LAI, IVAN K. W, LAM, FRANKIE K. S (2009). Perception of various performance criteria by stakeholders in the construction sector in Hong Kong. Construction Management & Economics. Apr2010, Vol. 28 Issue 4, p377-391. 15p. 1 Diagram, 8 Charts.
In this publication, Lai and Lam discuss the different perspectives and major differences between the 324 participating companies within the Construction Management and Economics industry who have performed construction projects in Hong Kong. The research method used to analyze the information from the study was the One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and repeated measures ANOVA. To perform their research they utilized nine specific performance criteria: Profit, time, no claims/contractual disputes, job satisfaction, quality, safety environment, innovative ideas and effectiveness. Time, cost and quality are always described as the ‘holy trinity’ (Swan and Khalfan, 2007). According to the study, the results show a significant differences in the performance results with conclusions obtained from these results. 'Performance criteria’ are commonly shared mechanisms for monitoring and demonstrating project success (Krima et al. , 2007). The results are effected greatly by performance; those differences are measured by a. the different participants in the construction project; b. the different types of projects; c. the different aspects of the project performed by each participant. The purpose of this study is to increase the interest in advancing the execution of the construction industry.
