Examine the importance of Quran and Hadith in Islam with reference to two principle beliefs. Islam is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion with two primary scared texts, the Quran and Hadith. The Quran is the most important scripture in Islam as it is believed to be the words of God revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The hadith are the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which were composed by the students of the companies to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by god through Angel Gabriel over a 23 year period. It is the most important text for the Muslim faith as it is believed to be the words of God. Muslims believe the Quran was revealed by God, as law and reference to what is permissible and what is prohibited. It sets rules and regulations for people and societies to adhere to, in everyday life, like the five pillars of Islam, which are obligatory acts of worship. Sharia/Islamic law touches on virtually every aspect of life and society, providing guidance on varied topics from family life, welfare, banking, environment , etc. Hadith is the second most important text in Islam. It is the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which were composed by his companions and their students. Hadith is important to Muslims, because when one can’t find the relevant information in the Quran, they turn to the revelations of Hadith. Muslim jurists consult the Hadith, or the written record of Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) life, to both supplement the Quran and assist with its interpretation. Two principle beliefs found in the Quran and Hadith are Tawheed (belief in one God) and Al-Akirah (judgement day). Firstly Tawheed meaning “unification of oneness” is used to describe the belief in absolute oneness in God. Of all the articles of faith in Islam, the most fundamental is strict monotheism. The
