Paleolithic art: Cave paintings are the earliest known example of human art dating 40,000 to 8,000 BCE. The paintings mainly feature various animals running, sleeping, and eating. Some also contain a few humans, geometrical shapes, and even hand prints. The artist used permanent features like ceilings, floors, and walls of rock shelters and caves as their canvas. Pigments of black, yellow, red, and brown were utilized to display the observations of animals.
In the Paleolithic and Neolithic ages, images where looked at through cave paintings and figurines. These images were very prominent in the developing cultures, because this was their language and how they communicated between each other, through images and symbols. They weren’t advanced enough yet to form a written language, so you can also say that this was a type of record keeping or a way of saying that we do exist here, since life and the human race was the most important value of life. Paleolithic art falls into two main categories, small figurines and cave art. Paleolithic art is classified as either figurative by depicting animals or humans, and nonfigurative by taking the form of signs and symbols.
Both of them have played an important role in the history of famous photography and the lives of famous photographers just like Henry Peach Robinson who was influenced by the school of pastoralism and Paul Strand who, on the other hand, was influenced by the school of modernism in photography. Later within the essay I explain and elaborate more on both photographers and their famous work. Pictorliast photography is a type of capturing images, which was discovered or first used in the late 1800s by a group of photographers who were later known as the “pictorliast”, whom decided to take a more artistic turn to photography. They started scratching the negatives and blurring some parts with a brush during the printing process so the end result will carry or represent their specific take on it. Because of this we know that they took photography and the
Like many artists of the 1880’s, the Post-Impressionist wanted to portray “emotion and intellect as well as the visual imagery” ("Post impressionist,"). Some of these paintings were very expressive and sometimes emotional, such as the paintings by Van Gogh. The abstractness of these paintings were often underappreciated and ridiculed by society, like the works Van Gogh. It wasn’t until years later that some of these works were appreciated and valued. Many Post-Impressionism works of art were inspired by the historical events occurring at that time.

The relationship between the Romanticism and Realism Periods Nicole Valcin Western Governors University IWT1 Humanities The relationship between the Romanticism and Realism Period Art is defined in many different ways. Like many artists if the modern age (1860-1990) his art dealt with real life and everyday experiences, based on natural or man made form for example in the “Clarinet and bottle of rum on a mantelpiece”, his subject matter is the title and the same for “Glass guitar and bottle”. Picasso was part of the cubist movement. When he painted “Clarinet and a bottle of rum on a mantle piece” the subjects in cubist paintings were so broken down into facets that they became difficult to recognise, a phase known as analytical cubism. To remind the viewer of the subjects in the painting Picasso began to introduce images that would remind the viewer of the original subject such as lettering, musical signs and pieces of newspaper. By the time he came to construct “glass, guitar and bottle, analytical cubism had moved onto synthetic cubism.

Multiple factors would affect their behaviors and many concerns have been brought to peoples attention about the effects orcas face by leaving the wild. One concern for orcas that are born in the wild then taken into captivity is that they live in pods, and their families operate much as if a human family would, with strong attachments and emotions. Tearing these creatures away from their family members has much to do with the psychological effect on them. Several incidents have been reported over the past years that make people question the continued captivity of orcas.
Symbol, Theme and Depiction in Jacques-Luis David’s The Oath of the Horatii There are many paintings that stand out in the canon of art and art history. Jacques-Luis David’s neoclassical painting, The Oath of the Horatii, is one such painting. It is many things: a comment of family versus state, a merging of cultures and a political statement. It is important to study because of its many different comments and the true depth of its message about war, family, violence and culture. It is a painting that marks David’s opinion on the time that he painted it- the late 1700’s-through using an old Roman myth.
