Introduction This assignment is intended on exploring Evidence based practice and its relations to research paradigms that are used throughout the healthcare profession. Exploring the difference between leadership and management styles in relation to evidence based practice and policy implementation. Evidence based practice; Evidence based practice (EBP) is defined as a conscious use of the best current evidence when making decisions about an individual patients care (Sacket et al, 1997). Nursing research is a systematic inquiry designed to build knowledge on an important issue for nurses, with the aim of developing nursing education, practice and administration (Beck and Polit, 2006). ). The general agreement is that the best evidence comes from rigorous research (Beck and Polit, 2006). The growing use of EBP is fuelled by the increasing demand for accountability of actions, when carrying out safe and effective improvements within healthcare (Stevens, 2013). Throughout nursing it has become a pivotal role of the nurses to ensure that they are carrying out safe, effective person-centred care which is based on the current available evidence (Gordon and Watts, 2011). There is such demand for nurses to engage with research due to; the increasing cost of healthcare, the higher demand on the National Health Service (NHS) and the increasing demand for improving the delivery of patient care (Polit et al, 2001).Although there is an expectation of nurses to maintain a level of involvement with research regarding practice, at minimum by keeping up to date with all the changes that are happening throughout the NHS. This is difficult due to different healthcare settings demands and needs it is becoming increasingly difficult
