They are forced to live in very crowded places for example some are forced to live in a place where ten people are living in at the same time giving them no privacy to do their necessities. They live in places with no boundaries to separate them from one room to another. The children are faced to live with the risk of catching a deadly infection and non deadly infections due to not having any health insurance. Most children in poverty haven’t seen a doctor in a very long time only when the doctors that volunteer to help children in poverty is when they get the chance to see one. If it wasn’t for that I don’t think they would ever see one in their lives.
Roosevelt’s upbringing did and didn't make it easy for him to understand the concerns and fears of ordinary Americans. The worries and fears for ordinary American's were things such as 'am I going to lose my house', 'will I lose my job' and 'where is my next meal coming from'. Roosevelt's upbringing didn't help because he was an only child in a rich family . This didn't help because he was pampered by his mother and got everything he wanted. He was educated at home so he had no real idea of what life was like outside of his family which may of created an ignorance to what was going on around him.
As a child, I grew up in the migrant environment. It wasn't easy moving back and fourth to different states, dealing with school and having to work in the exhausting fields is not an easy task to do. Growing up I was aware of my parents struggles to sustain our home and needs. I then realized that education is imperative to economic well-being, despite having little of monetary value my parents never gave up on my sister and I. The fact that my parents grew up in a time that working was the only option being that they were not educated.
The lives of homeless people shouldn’t be decided depending on how generous we feel. Shelters should be built and food should be provided for some of them. We associate homeless people as people who are lazy and ‘cannot be bothered’ to find a g=job. Many homeless people are living on the streets because they were neglected as a child or have horrible parents. It isn’t their fault that they didn’t get an education because their parents spent all the money they had on alcohol and drugs.
The people that surround us have a greater effect on our self-perception than we think. By understanding our personality we can learn to accept who we are. Being happy with yourself helps you live a healthier lifestyle. In Among Friends, Jennie went through many things because she never showed her true self. Once she did people learned to accept her because they could see the difference.
Gregor had little to no friends, and his job consumed all of his focus. His family commented on this from time to time but did not try to do anything about Gregor’s circumstance. After the metamorphosis things took a turn for the worse for Gregor. His mother could not stand the sight of him, his sister still loved him but treated him differently, and their maid was so shaken up that she quit immediately. His family took less and less interest in him each day, so Gregor began to think, “In this overworked and overtired family, who had time to be concerned about Gregor beyond what was absolutely necessary?” (Kafka, 40).
It talks about how upsetting it was for him to not know his age or much about his family. When describing his life he states, “My life had its beginning in the most miserable, desolate, and discouraging surrounding. (par 1) Washington knew some about his mother, only because he worked with her for a few years, but other than that, he was clueless about his family background. He was lucky to be sold with his mother though because most of the time children who were sold at such young age had absolutely nobody except for their white “family” that they worked for, and finding their real family members was
Society’s view on certain groups of people has changed with time, but the way people perceive and stereotype others shows conformity to what others feel is correct or acceptable, although those perceptions may or may not be true. Stereotypes are these images or generalizations that have been given to groups of people to portray the way society views their actions, standard of living, or even the type person they are. These views of certain groups are merely just opinions or generalizations and do not represent all the people justly and can cause misconceptions of a person’s ability, personality, or just as a person as a whole. Of those misconceptions on certain stereotypes, the Hispanics have been portrayed as this figure in society that is seen as a lazy group not willing to work. Through research and what is seen in today’s world we see this stereotype being thrown around attempting to classify Hispanics, where in reality we see a growing number of Hispanics in the workforce.

A Dose of Reality It had been a while since I took the time to think of where I came from; where it all began for my family and me. I often tend to forget all the struggles we’ve been through and think that the lifestyle we have now is the lifestyle we’re entitled to. I tend to forget that those struggles made us what we are today as a unit. Of course there are random days when I think back to the old times. The times my mother cried after the electrical company cut off our power because we couldn’t afford it.
