The Heel and Toe Polka Elements of composition The Heel and Toe Polka is a lively couple dance, danced in 2/4 time. Two partners face each other and go through multiple steps including; tapping their heels and toes, sliding from side to side, clapping each other’s hands and your own knees and spinning with your current partner to your next partner. This slide enables the dance to continue its fast tempo; the slide is then reversed with the next step. The slide is a completely lateral movement with no forwards movement, throughout the entire heel and toe polka there is no completely forwards movement it is all either lateral or a spin around your partner. During the whole dance the body is bopping up and down in time with the movements and beats of the music. To swap partners you spin your current partner and if you are a female you move on to your next partner, this enables the whole circle to slowly move around and everyone to dance with each other. Relationship The Heel and Toe Polka is performed with partners,
