GKE Task 1 I chose Egypt and the Nile as the geographic factor that contributed to the development of Ancient Egypt. The Nile is considered Egypt’s lifeline and important to the economy. Each year the Nile floods bringing with it numerous elements that nourish the land, not like the Tigris or Euphrates systems that have alkaline waters. The Nile fertilizes the land making it perfect for planting. The Ancient Egyptians planted wheat, barley, and many other crops after the flood waters receded.
If the rain forests would have created excessive rainfall and flooded the crop fields used to grow crops, it would make sense for the Maya to relocate. This could also be the result of a massive drought. This is considered to
<br> The Gihon spring served as the primary source of water for Biblical Jerusalem. From the fountainhead of the spring, a number of waterworks were built throughout the Judean period, to transport the Gihon waters and to safeguard access to the city's water source. These included the Shiloah Tunnel, which ran outside the city, and the Hezekiah Tunnel, which took a very twisted pathway, inside the mountain itself. It was apparently built along a crack
The mentioning of four scriptural geologists and their backgrounds help defend the author’s argument. Christianity and science play a strong role in how and why people believe what they believe, and this is one of the biggest debates of both subjects. Dr. Terry Mortenson has a superb argument on the ramifications of the Old-Earth Theory in this article, as well as a few areas he needs to expand on. Article Strengths Dr. Terry Mortenson mentions many important people when it comes to the theories of the world and creation in this article. The information included about each person was very professional and well
The Nile River supplied fertile soil and water, wheat, barley, and flax crops, papyrus, and a religion to worship. The Egyptians believed that Osiris would visit with the annual floods of the Nile. The landscape protected Egyptians from invaders with the "natural borders." 2. List and describe characteristics of Pre-dynastic Egypt They developed an irrigation system, a writing
The Egyptians could possibly be an extinct population if it were not for the Nile River. Not only did the Nile River provide a water source for the Ancient Egyptians, its frequent flooding provided rich soils to grow and maintain crops. The Nile River is such a large body of water and for the Ancient Egyptians to get full use out if it they developed one of the first irrigation systems, diverting water away from cities and towards fertile soil to help grow crops. The irrigation system was also used to provide clean drinking water (“Ancient Egyptian agriculture”, 2013, Irrigation Systems, para.1). As impressive as their irrigation systems were I believe the most interesting fact about the Nile River and the Ancient Egyptians is that the frequent flooding was so predictable that this was the basis for creating the first calendar,
HCS/320 Communication and Crisis Paper By: Theresa Kamara Professor Tracey Collins A crisis is an unexpected situation that cannot be prepare for. It can negatively affect or poses harm to a person, town, country or community. Unexpected situations can cause panic paving the way for the worst outcome. Natural disaster and man-made disaster two forms of crisis. A natural disaster is an event that occurs due to the environmental factors of the earth.
The scientific research information which is know doesn’t really have any strong evidence to back up either of these two theories, but there has been a lot more scientific research done on the common decent from which it has given us a broad rage of information about evolution. The theory of common descent is combined with today’s modern biological knowledge this is used to determine predictions. These predictions are then compared to the real world in order to see how they relate with each other. The worldwide scientific research community have said that there are no know hypothesis other then common decent can account for the unity, diversity and patterns of terrestrial life. But there are a small amount of scientist that belief in the intelligent design theory as Darwin
Young earth Old earth Liberty University Mr. David Gilhousen Jo Ann Head PHSC 210 Fall Introduction Knowledge of the past and present makeup of the universe solicits factorial seen evidence and faith based beliefs driven by scripture and belief systems. “Almost everyone living today takes for granted that the universe and earth are billions of years old. But that has not always been true and the number of people rejecting that idea today is increasing rapidly.” (Mortenson, 2003) Proving the existence or the non-existence of time creation is still relevant in today’s society. Scripture tells us but science shows us, accepting answers is primarily based on one’s belief system no
Many worry about the negative consequences Global Warming may have on our Earth. It is believed that there will be detremental effects from sea to land. A rise in water levels causing the icecaps to melt. Melting icecaps would then release methane another greenhouse gas. The oceans salt water would mix with freshwater and CO2 would get absorbed into the oceans causing disabling effects on our waters food chain.
