Essay on Freshwater

Some people think that we should use as much fresh water as we want. Others think that fresh water supply should be controlled strictly by governments as the sources are limited. Discuss both views and give your opinion. 350-400 words. Fresh water is naturally occurring water on the Earth's surface in ice sheets, ice caps, glaciers, icebergs, bogs, ponds, lakes, rivers and streams, and underground as groundwater in aquifers and underground streams. In my opinion, fresh water is a scarce resource, meaning that it will run out soon enough so it should be rationed by the government. Fresh water can only be obtained through the process of the water cycle, in which water from seas, lakes, rivers, and reservoirs evaporates, forms clouds, and returns as precipitation. However, if more fresh water is consumed through human activities than is naturally restored, this may result in reduced fresh water availability from surface and underground sources and can cause serious damage to surrounding and associated environments. To collect more fresh water, the government should also install more catchment areas where water is able to be collected during heavy rains and storms. This way, freshwater can be utilised more efficiently and we could use as much freshwater as we wanted. An artesian aquifer is a confined aquifer containing groundwater under positive pressure. This type of well is called an artesian well. Water may even reach the ground surface if the natural pressure is high enough, in which case the well is called a flowing artesian well. This would be a good way to obtain freshwater easily and we may even be able to use it as much as we want. Desalination is the removal of salt from water. To do it, you boil the water away and condense it on another surface, leaving the salt behind. Desalination allows the creation of fresh water suitable for drinking or for
