In fact, Elie is trying to adapt to his Jewish traditions. “We used to stay in the synagogte after all the faithful had left sitting in the gloom, where a few half-burned candles still gave a flickering light.”(pg7) In other words, Elie was doing a Jewish tradition. “There are thousands of gates leading into the orchard of mystical truth.”(pg3) Furthermore, he was going to acquire knowledge about some truth in his religion. “We would read together, ten times over, the same page of the Zohar.” (pg3) However, he would read it over and over again to learn it by heart. Elie is acquiring knowledge about his traditional Jewish values by studying the Cabbala and reciting his prayers.
Elie is a young Jewish boy who is a strong believer and a surviver of the Holocaust. Chlomo struggled a lot but tried to keep a brave face for his son but sadly lost faith. Moche the Beadle is a Jew who got mistreated by other Jews when he told his foreboding story. He is an example of foreshadowing. Akiba Drumer was an inspirational young Jewish boy who tried to keep his faith and hope by playing his violin but sadly loses faith and gives up.
Two Faces of Evil The Boy in Striped Pajamas is about a young boy, named Bruno, who discovers the horrors of the Nazis, but denies it because he respects Germany as his own country and he respects his father. Night is about Elie Wiesel’s adventure through the concentration camps. Wiesel is a jew who was sent to Auschwitz and he and his family got separated, but his dad stayed at his side. Six months before Wiesel was liberated, his dad died and was carted off. Both of these stories are alike.
You then feel like a newborn baby beginning a new life. From the first time I celebrated this holiday, I enjoyed it. Even though my parents and rabbis told me I should not fast, I fasted for most of the day anyway. I tried to fast because I felt like a little man, and I wanted to pray like all the other men. Before Yom Kippur, I had made a goal of davening with my Daddy and all the other Jewish men.
Before all of this of course, he ran a store with my mother back in Sighet, may she also rest in peace, and I would constantly see my father go about his business. He didn’t like to live in fear. Maybe that’s why when we heard of the red army advancing in giant strides, he paid no mind to it because we all believed that Hitler would never get to us. My father was a very good man; he was very well respected by the Jewish community of Sighet and he even had my respect. Most of the time he was busy with communal activities and with the lives of other people which somewhat distanced him from our family but I was never mad or upset at him.
The Jazz Singer (1927) does an excellent job showing how religion influences our lives. Jakie Rabinowitz, the main character, is pursuing his dreams but constantly has to deal with coming from a strict Jewish family. Although the Jakie is Jewish, viewers of any belief can identify with Jakie’s struggle. The Jazz Singer (1927) shows how religion influences views on music, effects communities and the families and people within. Religion significantly
Abraham was tremendously faithful and although he had some misgivings, overall proved his faith in the Lord. Therefore, he is often called the “Father of the Faith”. Abraham was only human. People have been known to make mistakes and so did Abraham when he brought along his nephew, Lot: “So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him.” (Gen 12: 4) Abraham and his wife Sarah (who was then Sarai) were old. He only brought Lot in the first place as a backup plan in the event that he could not have a son.
Schindler’s List Schindler’s List was directed by Steven Spielberg and was released December 15, 1993. Even though he was not a son of a survivor he is related to victims of the Holocaust. Throughout life, he was always testing himself of being Jewish because he was raised as gentile Jew attending gentile schools. When Spielberg first heard of Schindler’s story he jokingly asked if it was true. “I was drawn to his story because of the paradoxical nature of the character,” he said.
He goes on to explain the wildness of the boys at the boarding school. All the things that they did in order to experience their time at the school with complete freedom. He described a student participating in what is called “fire-writing.” The disciplinary action taken against the boys that took part in the “fire-writing” was quite unusual. The headmaster of the boarding school decided to take the boys left hand and place it in boiling water for about 10 seconds. Although, after a few had took their turns, the fire under the pot was turned off, so not to burn every guilty boy.
When I talked to God when I have a problem and I used to feel like my life was stressful and I thought that I am useless of the world and like feeling down. And after that God gave me strenght and courage to face the problems in life and have a positive mind. And every journey of my life my motivation of doing good things is my Family . The family is always for you, the one who care's with you and listened you when no one is with you , the parents who always supported you and give all your needs. They are positive role models to me and they force me to think to think responsible to be a better person. They thaught me that I could achive anyting with a good education, a solid goal, and an unfaltering determination.
