I was selected as the House Captain of the Bishop’s School in my year as a senior and the experience thus far has been absolutely salutary. House Captain is one of the most respectable and responsible leadership positions that my school confers on a student.
It was a great privilege to have been selected from amongst a very talented group of peers and entire student community.
Since my childhood years I have never really been the diffident sort and reveled in the joy of having good friends. A few days after my ceremony I discovered the plethora of varied personalities to deal with on a daily basis that could at times be very overwhelming and realizing that it was not so easy to control few cantankerous students.
My primary responsibility includes maintaining discipline within the school boundaries.
At times it takes courage to stand up to my peers and correct them when they are wrong. The expectations from my teachers and principal are of the highest order especially when organizing various school programs such as Sports Day, Annual Day, school drama, and talent and Quiz competitions. I would never want my teachers to have second thoughts regarding the faith they have entrusted in me.
Encouraging and motivating other students to participate in the activities can get me quite worked up. It was very difficult at first to get some students to own up and perform their duties towards the school. At the end of the day when I see a smile on their face having won a race or received a prestigious award my heart reaches out to them giving a warm feeling of satisfaction.
