As Gatsby puts his dream onto something unworthy (Daisy), his dream becomes less important as time progresses because it gets more and more unattainable. He puts so much stress on what he wants Daisy to be, rather than what she is, creating an infatuation in the idea of her, rather than the reality of her. Even Nick doesn’t believe Gatsby truly loves her anymore, stating that “he wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy.” (Fitzgerald 110)His hopes spread past reality and reason. At one point, Gatsby believes he can repeat the past (Fitzgerald 110) and get Daisy back. Gatsby sacrifices everything he is, and completely changes himself for Daisy.

Johnson first realizes his love art when bud brings him a book of art. That book becomes a very important item in the movie because it had a great influence on Mr. Johnson. The art book was one of the main factors that created rebellion and chaos in Pleasantville because Mr. Johnson then created art as time passed he became colored. In Pleasantville, the “non-colored” citizens thought of the “colored” as tainted or impure. Because the “colored” were not like the rest, the people were prejudice and immediately thought that they were mischievous and would disregard their presence.
Christian sees a kind, sincere, and an exceptionally gorgeous Roxane and immediately falls in love with her at first sight. Though Christian’s love for Roxane may not be very deep or complex like Cyrano’s, it is still genuine love unlike De Guiche’s “love” for Roxane. I perceive Christian as being a sincere and thoughtful man that has no wit or eloquence when it comes to confessing his love for Roxane; so much so he requires the help of Cyrano to speak for him, literally. The scenes that Christian and Roxane share are comedic and at the same time very tragic. It is very unfortunate because Christian is so sincere for his love of Roxane, but he is also so
Creon is sorry for what he was done, he repents, but it is already too late. He only finds true justice when everything he cared for was gone. Creon’s tragic flaw was that he was resolute; he did not want Polynieces to be buried. He received multiple warnings that this would lead to his downfall. He was put into the position of King.

Growing up he began to accept it little by little. “He seemed unable to believe it. Almost despite himself, his dark eyes glittered with pride.” When he began to realize how famous and important his son was becoming he tried to accept the gift and him.

The author does this to give Henri a new level of respect from the reader after him being ambushed for painting horribly. Steinbeck writes these two paragraphs as one huge juxtaposition.“Also he was not really a painter... But as a boat builder he was superb.” (Steinbeck 3,18). The two paragraphs have two different tones toward Henri, one making him seem like he had no talent for painting and that he was even too busy to paint, but the other with much more respect and appreciation. This makes reader understand the character more in depth with two different sides to the
For example, in the battle royal, he did not care to think of how humiliating it was, and instead he thought of it as a title of honor to participate in such event. He is "overjoyed" and does "not even mind when [he] discover[s] that the gold pieces [he] had scrambled for were brass pocket tokens" (32). Because he has never felt any type of racism in his life, he does not understand that they were making an entertainment out of him. He is partially blind by still worshiping the individuals in high positions, even after witnessing their cruelty first hand. This is the first stage where he got a glimpse of the "real" world out there.
Alex Wagner Hobbs ENC1101 1 October 2014 Summary and Personal Perspective Essay “In response he expected us to play the part of an enthusiastic family, but we were unwilling to resume our old roles” (44). In life, unreliable people surround us. These people often break promises, bringing disappointment to others. Sometimes the undependable person may not realize the disappointment the empty promises bring to others. Like in the quote from “The Ship Shape” by David Sedaris, the father expected the family to be excited about the promises, but instead they were disappointed because they had been let down numerous times.
