When two people marry it should be because they love each other not because of money and the pressures from you family. F. Scott Fitzgerald describes the lives of Daisy and Tom Buchanan and also Daisy’s former lover, Jay Gatsby. In this novel ‘The Great Gatsby’ the conflict occurs when Daisy is about to marry Tom but finds out that Gatsby wants to resurrect their previous relationship. Family pressure, money and love are ideas presented in the passage through characterisation and symbolism and the reader is encouraged to disagree with Daisy’s actions. In many families there are conflicts or disagreements.
Myrtle is unhappy with her marriage to Wilson and feels it is not going to take her anywhere. Therefore she knows that she is going to have to find another man to bring her out of the valley of Ashes. Initially Myrtle thinks that Wilson is the man who she had been looking for, when she first saw him in a suit she thought for certain he was the kind of man who she was looking to marry. Only later does she find out that the suit was not his "Crazy, the only crazy was when I married him". While still married to Wilson, Myrtle does everything in her power to try and imitate the life she sees Tom and his friends living.

By the time Mashah, Bessie, and Fania, get married off and are not happy, Sara decides she wants more for herself. Sara is not going to let her father abuse her like he did the other girls.
His interest and involvement in Dr. Jekyll’s affair contradict with the introduction of his personality in the very beginning of the book, which shows his indifference toward immorality and lack of social skill. s Mr. Utterson likes this letter because it says that his friend Dr. Jekyll is not blackmailed and the evil person Mr. Hyde will not distract Dr. Jekyll again. Also Mr. Utterson feels guilty and blames himself for his past suspicions, for Mr. Hyde does not intend to blackmail Dr. Jekyll at all. By contrast, Mr. Hyde fully realizes his unworthiness of inheriting Dr. Jekyll’s properties. However, Mr. Utterson is upset with the fact that the letter was from Dr. Jekyll as well after he lets his clerk compare the letter with Jekyll’s own
She may seem like a good girl but she only marries Tom for his money, for “the pearls...around her neck” (76). She really loves Gatsby but is not going to wait around for him, especially since he does not have much money coming out of the war. So she finds a wealthy, handsome man and marries him instead. At this point, it may seem as though she is living the American Dream because she has a family, a lot of money, and possesses many beautiful objects. But that is not the case.
Daisy Buchanan’s world basically revolves around the men she is involved with and her relationships with them. She was raised in an environment where the “American Dream” was everything, and she strived to get that through marriage. At first, Jay Gatsby deceived her into thinking he could get her everything she desired, such as security, money, social status, and attention. Even when it turned out he could provide none of those things, she still continued to love him. Only when he went away, and she was desperate for order did she consider marrying Tom, who was “worthy” as he had the proper background, wealth, and the approval of her parents.
He wants what’s best for her, but doesn’t want to see himself get hurt along the way. He likes being in control, and the feeling of Diane’s acceptance and love, is one of the more important things to him. Neil is tired of not being intimate with Diane, and he slightly keeps pushing her towards what he wants, but every time follows regret and suppressed anger, because he knows she’s not ready. He tells her that he’ll wait for her, but it’s not something he’s happy about. He holds grudges against it, but he loves her and therefore he stands by her choice.
While her mother was concerned more about the economical aspect of life, the father was preoccupied by the spirituality of his family, about conserving customs and traditions: ‘ Father pushed his hand from his arm.’ (Yezierska, 63) In fact, this conservative attitude of her father and the constant differences they had concerning social and moral values is what made Sara more and more determined to leave home and become an American. Running away from home was Sara’s first step towards becoming a ‘person’. But in order to complete herself as one, she knows she first must be educated. She succeeds in getting herself into college, but she soon finds out that there are many discrepancies between her – an immigrant, and her colleagues – genuine Americans. She finds herself longing to be one of them: ‘Even in school I suffered, because I was not like the rest.’ (Yezierska,
That he risked his life for his country” she is trying to tell Ishmael that many men were effected by the events that happened during the war, there is also a subliminal message that is telling Ishmael that if the war managed to change Kabuo that the same impact has effected Ishmael in a similar way and that his mother wants the previous version of her son back. However Ishamel seems to dismiss this point which shows a lack of respect for his mothers opinion and views on the situation which really should have enlightened him to hand in the evidence
He knows that he should not turn in Jim because Jim has done nothing but help Huck in his adventure and has done nothing wrong to Huck. Huck’s development is shown here because he knows that what society views slaves as is wrong. They are best friends, which is why Huck cannot bring himself to turn Jim in. Even though Huck brings himself to pray to for the ability to turn Jim in, he could not because he cares about Jim. They took care of each other on the raft and have grown a close relationship, because of this Huck cannot bring
