Truman:- Harry Truman was president of America after the death of F D Roosevelt in April 1945. Harry Truman gave the order for the atomic bombs to be dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and he represented the United States at Potsdam, the last of the great war meetings. Harry Truman was born in 1884 in Lamar, Missouri. He was brought up in a rural background and in World War one he served on the Western Front as a captain in the American artillery. After the war, he took a law degree at Kansas City and after this he moved into the social and political circles of the Democrat Party.
You have often heard the phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words.” If you look at the pictures during the Great Depression by Walker Evans you envision yourself in that time. Walker Evans was born in St. Louis Missouri in 1903. He grew up in Chicago and New York City. He attended the Loomis Institute and Mercerburg Academy and then graduated from Phillips Academy in Massachusetts in 1922. Fulfilling the Writer’s Duty: Conway or Dillard? On December 1950, William Faulkner delivered his Nobel Prize speech. He said that, the award was not given to him for who he was, but for his work. In his speech, he explained his ideas of literature and of being a good writer. For him, a writer could never be successful if he did not write about his emotion and thoughts, as well as his experiences.

This could be a very short and concise summary of the life of Edgar Allan Poe, too short a life at that. A phenomenal writer, well known and much admired. Poe didn’t live the life of luxury though, beginning with some difficult times towards his early life. Poe was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston Massachusetts, but his legacy was cut short, passing at age 40.
Born in Paris, Kentucky to Sydney, a former slave and son of Confederate Col. John H. Morgan and Eliza Reed, also a former slave, Morgan moved at the age of fourteen to Cincinnati, Ohio in search of employment. Most of his teenage years were spent working as a handyman for a wealthy Cincinnati landowner. Like many African Americans of his day, he had to quit school at a young age in order to work. However, the teen-aged Morgan was able to hire his own tutor and continued his studies while living in Cincinnati. In 1895, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked repairing sewing machines for a clothing manufacturer.
Last but not least Milton Stover Eisenhower born on September 15, 1899, in Abilene Dickinson Country, Kansas. Eisenhower attended Abilene High School and graduated the class of 1909. He when and graduated from West Point college as the class of 1915. A friend urged him to apply to the Naval Academy. Though Eisenhower passed the entrance exam, he was beyond the age of eligibility for admission to the Naval Academy.
Literary Analysis Brianna West ENG125: Intorduction To Literature Marlena Fitzpatrick-Garcia February 17, 2015 Although Ernest Hemingway’s short story “Hills Like White Elephants” was written in 1927, the literary conflict can be compared to Joyce Carol Oates short story “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been” written more than thirty years later. Both Hemingway and Oates are great authors and they are urging readers to consider life lessons by the choices you make. However, Hemingway address this conflict through the use of Individual vs. Individual and Oates relies on Individual vs. Self. Both Hemingway and Oates are urging the readers to consider the life lesson we can learn from making the right or wrong decision in life.
After this he started his higher education at New Mexico Military institute in Roswell where his grades started to drop until a student there showed him how to study. He received his Associates Degree there and went on to attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He decided that partying would be his main priority and flunked out quickly. In 1951 he received his Bachelors Degree from Eastern New Mexico University then transferred to well respect Texas Tech University where he got his masters degree in Zoology. In 1958 he continued his schooling at University of Arizona where he received a Ph.D. in studying the growth of Savannah

After the war, Truman joined the Democratic Party. In 1934, he became a United States senator. He headed the Truman Committee, a committee that found and corrected problems in US war production.
Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890, in Denison, Texas the third of seven boys. In 1892 the family moved to Abilene, Kansas, which Eisenhower considered as his home town. As a child, he was involved in an accident that cost his younger brother an eye; he later referred to this as an experience teaching him the need to be protective of those under him. Dwight developed a keen and enduring interest in exploring outdoors, hunting and fishing, cooking and card playing, from a man named Bob Davis who lived by the river. And though his mother was against war, it was her collection of history books that first sparked Eisenhower's early and lasting interest in military history.
