Environmental Pollution: Causes and Remedies
Relationship between human life and environment is quite strong and intimate. As human beings, we exploit the environment in our endeavor for better living. Such exploitations, over the centuries, have resulted in serious threat to the environment itself. Industrialization, exponential population growth, increased dependence on use of automobiles, indiscriminate felling of trees and such other activities have been the root causes to the present-day vulnerability of the global environment. Environmental pollution is now one of the biggest problems and it is increasing at a threatening rate in both the developed as well as developing countries. If the current way the world’s environmental problem is being handled continues, catastrophic consequences can follow for the future population.
What is Environmental Pollution?
Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into a natural environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem i.e. physical systems or living organisms. Normally the disturbance on natural balance leads to environmental pollution. Air pollution, water pollution, sound pollution, arsenic pollution, decaying of ozone (O3) layer, nuclear explosion etc. all are the particular type of environmental pollution.
Bangladesh is apparently now in the grip of all sorts of pollution, like air pollution, soil pollution, water pollution and what not. The indiscriminate industrialization process in Bangladesh over the past decades has created significant environmental problems. The main causes of environmental pollution in Bangladesh are described below-
Among the most significant environmental problems, one is the enormous volume of solid waste which is being produced every day but not be disposed properly. The mismanagement of the solid waste, particularly the polythene shopping bag has caused serious threat to the soil, public health,...
