* To portray a grotesque and physical side to the musical the Wizard of Oz. * To make the audience feel as though they are a part of the performance and to feel involved in the action. * To make the audience feel as though they are following Dorothy on her journey to Oz. An example of a live performance where elements of kneehigh as self-evident was the production of 101 Dalmatians at the New Vic theatre. The whole performance was non-naturalistic as the main characters portrayed were Dalmatian dogs played by humans and the portrayal of the characters of Pongo and Perdita was very physical in their movements encompassing Kneehigh elements e.g.
They are the center of attention. The people gather around. Some are watching, some are taunting , and others provoke both Mercutio and Tybalt, trying to fuel their anger . Oblivious that they are in the ‘public haunt of men’, they don’t stop fighting. In my opinion, Shakespeare included this fight scene as an entertainment for the audience.
In the movies Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Edward Scissorhands Tim Burton uses the two stylistic techniques, mysterious tone, and a twisted mood to help convey mysterious aspects of the characters. Tim Burton creates a twisted and daunting tone in both movies by using the technique non-diegetic sound. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Burton uses eerie and majestic music as the contestants are walking into the room of candy. The music grows
The unclear part about it was whether or not at The end was a burial at the circus, or whether they were at a funeral for the elephant Mary Or if they were still just on the side of the railroad tracks. The play was kept and told in Chronological order. It kept a clear and concise path of the story they were retelling. It did Not jump around; it went from beginning to end. The play started off with “carnies” Heading to a town and setting up their circus.
Sound and/or music can intensify or pacify the audience’s emotions, assist in story telling, and can be an element of the plot. In the beginning of this film, the invisible sound is used as foreshadowing. Duce’s voice (who is the hit man for the MacManus brothers) is heard in the background and used as a voice over narration. He says “When I raise my flashing sword, I will take vengeance upon mine enemies and I will repay those who haste me. O Lord, raise me to thy right hand, count me among the saints.” Also, when the MacManus brothers have their religious epiphany, Duce’s voice is again heard and he says “And I shall count thee among my favored sheep and you shall have the protection of all the angels in heaven.” At this time, the MacManus brothers decide to kill the evil doers.
Horrific images, such as a soldier grabbing a wire, then being caught in an explosion that leaves only his hands on the wire, abound in the battle scenes. This graphic imagery assuredly achieves the goal of showcasing the terrible reality of war and paired with the scene transitions, it gives the audience ample time to assess what's happened. Another aspect of the battle scenes, and even the movie itself, is the constant din. From the beginning with the postman, to the
Major wildfires blaze across the country, putting towns, and hundreds of woodland homes at risk if a wildfire occurs near you, it may spread rapidly, and become a serious problem. If you are living or building on the edge of a wildland area, you need to prepare for the risk of wildfire. To better understand how to protect your home, it is important to know how fire behaves. Fire needs fuel and oxygen. To a wildfire, homes and other structures are forms of fuel, and the wind provides plenty of oxygen.
Cinna took it upon himself to make sure that Katniss and Peeta would stand out amongst the other 11 districts by incorporating synthetic fire into their costumes, an opening ceremony first. When Katniss examines herself in her costume, Collins uses the words “sensational” and “deadliest” in the same sentence. These two words contrast with each other and assist in illustrating for the reader just how powerful the costume is, that even cynical Katniss is able to make this assessment. As their chariot is drawn towards the city circle, the author describes the power that their appearance has on the crowd. The crowd is being described as “going nuts” and it is explained that the crowd took some of their time to look up Katniss’ first name in the program
In act 3, Ariel shows his notable use of white magic in the play when he torments Alonso, Sebastian, and Antonio before their dinner. Ariel performs all of his services with great skill and presentation. From showing up as fire on the ship to his appearance as a great harpy to the three traitors, Ariel treasures the aesthetic. He tends to speak in beautifully poetic verse, even about the silliest things, without ever seeming foolish. Even as he pulls on Prospero’s robes, he sings a beautiful little song.
Four shows were featured in “Show Business- The Road to Broadway”, including Wicked, Avenue Q, Taboo, and Caroline, or Change. Each production with its own plot and story, which we learn are two very different things. Plot, is the show its self. It refers to the script, and the story that it tells, while the production’s story refers to the road a cast and crew travels while creating and performing a show. Wicked is a musical based off of a novel written by Gregory Maguire, titled “Wicked- The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.” The Novel corresponded with the ever popular story of the Wizard of Oz, but rather than following Dorothy and Glinda, it followed the life of Elphaba, the wicked witch of the west, and her choices.
