I still speak Spanglish and my Spanish is rusty because I don’t speak Spanish as much. I have 3 boys and they all speak English. They are Hispanic and white. I have never taught them to speak Spanish and a lot of people ask me why. My feelings for not speaking Spanish are that we speak more English because we are in America and that is the language spoken primarily.

Audience The audiences that are targeted in these two texts are very different; the article “Why you need good grammar” by Michael Kwan is targeted towards a more traditional and conservative audience because throughout the text he emphasizes that proper grammar is necessary in all situations, and shows his repugnance to modern day bloggers and internet users for not using correct grammar on the web. Kwan also writes that he thinks that all the new ways of communicating and sharing your opinion through the web and other new technology is ruining grammar, and stresses that we should go back to traditional proper grammar. The third and fourth generation of immigrants is particularly different from previous generations of immigrants because of the failure to become a custom with economic status, intermarriage rates and education norms. Like I have said before, I believe that the Spanish language is such a powerful thing, but more and more immigrants are using Spanish as a primary language and not speaking English. Even if they do speak English it is often not the best. There is such a huge concentration in certain areas that amongst them English is not needed. I personally feel that as a American born citizen, all immigrants need to learn English.
When I first learned how to read in English, it was a pain in the butt. My first language is Spanish so it was very difficult to start all over again with a new language. When I first got to this country I had to adapt pretty quickly to keep with my new classmates. I had no problems in any subject but English. Kids would make fun of me but I never gave up because in a situation like that, that’s the worst thing you could do because if you don’t keep trying you will never learn, everyone learns from their mistakes.
