If we place the potato in a sucrose solution with a similar solute concentration as a potato, then the least amount of water will diffuse into or out of the potato cells. This occurs because this scenario will be initially closest to an isotonic solution, allowing us to determine the solute concentration of a potato. Materials: * Knife/ Cork Borer * Seven 30 cm pieces of Dialysis tubing * Thirteen 250 mL Beakers * 15% Glucose Solution * Glucose Test Strips * 1% Starch Solution * Distilled water * Lugol’s solution * 25 mL of: * .2 M sucrose * .4 M sucrose * .6 M sucrose * .8 M sucrose * 1 M sucrose * Paper Towels * Clock * Potatoes * Plastic
Acid Rain in North America is a very serious issue which needs to be addressed. It affects the environment in many different ways affecting, lakes, trees, animal, and other living things. If people are willing to help, the chances of disaster will be decrease, but if actions do not take place, then the acid rain will cause a lot of damages to the environment. Wet deposition is a form of acid deposition which includes fog or snow. In this process acidic water flows over and through the ground and affects varieties of plants and animals.
Understanding potential hazards in Health and Social Care Electricity Supply - All electrical equipment hold a risk of a potentially dangerous electrical shock, it can be caused by contact with live parts and could result in burns or even death in bad cases, so it’s important to ensure that your computer is fully tested and maintained. Exposure to arching may lead to an injury and faulty electrical equipment or installations has a high risk of fires. Unsuitable electrical apparatus’ can cause explosions. Raw Sewage - Exposure to raw sewage or its products may result in a number of health risks and illnesses. Gastroenteritis; can cause stomach cramps and pains, diarrhoea, and vomiting.
Secondly, the area has several faults running through the area where the proposed facility was to be built. Constant shaking of the ground is going to do damage to any structure in the area. Finally, the water source underneath the facility may be needed in the future to provide water to metropolitan areas. Radioactive waste is dangerous wherever it is stored. I believe that placing these materials in an area which is unstable would just be a mistake.
A natural disaster is an event that occurs due to the environmental factors of the earth. Some forms of natural disaster includes earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and tsunamis. Man-made disasters are hazardous and can occur as a result of a functioning error. Examples of man-made disaster includes gas and nuclear leaks. Even though there are no way to prevent the occurrence of a natural or man-made disaster, emergency preparedness must be in place to deal with a disaster when it occur.
Conversely, Chemical plants can contaminate the pure water or create harmful diseases to humans and the Earth. The West Virginia chemical spill demonstrates the dangers chemical plants pose to our environment, and it is important to understand the devastating
Answer = Coal mining can require the removal of almost an entire layer of material deep under the surface. When the timber supports collapse, this can lead to subsidence. The subsidence can mean economic loss to people above or damage to natural areas. It can even cause cracks in river beds, leading to loss of river flow. Some mining involves the inadvertent dispersal of heavy metals, such as lead, into the atmosphere.
Benzene has been known to be a carcinogen, while the rest of the chemicals are unknown what long term damage it could cause. Another danger of fracking are spills. Spills occur during the adding of the fluids as well as during the results of the flow back. Drill operators will eventually have spills throughout this process. Hoses can be undone, gaskets can fail, pits leak and liquids always hit the ground, repeatedly in large quantities.
I am juicing this way for a detoxifying cleanse of my body and weight lost. The green monster provides me with a daily dose of 26.7 grams of protein, 239.4 grams of carbohydrates, and 8.4 grams of total fat. According to the United States Department of Agriculture I should be having “73 grams of protein, 260 grams of carbohydrates, and between 85-100 grams of total fat” (USDA, 2012). There is a vast difference in macronutrients recommended by the dietary recommended intake (DRI) in comparison to my current green monster juice diet. When I am not on my juice diet I would consume a green monster drink for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch and home cooked dinner to provide a more balanced diet.
Waste and Energy Sandra Jenkins, William Matos, Tony Brown, Steve Olberding ENV/100 May 26, 2014 Jennifer Ott Waste and Energy Plastics and pesticides are both a type of waste. The former is considered a solid waste and the latter is a categorized as hazardous waste. Where do these wastes come from and what kind of effect do they have on the environment either when they are used or disposed of? Oil and natural gas are fossil fuels that emit their own waste once used. The effects of their use on the environment can be far reaching and detrimental to health of humans, animals, and other organisms that inhabit the earth.
