Enercon India Wind Farm project case analysis 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1. BACKGROUND AND INDUSTRY TRENDS Enercon India’s wind energy business was going down as the customers were concerned with maintenance and upkeep of wind farms. For continued growth in this market, Enercon India’s strategy was to offer end to end solutions in the wind energy business. Using this approach, Enercon believed that it could generate enough interest to attract clients and investors. 2. PROBLEM STATEMENT The case deals with Project Planning and the dilemma faced by the project manager as the project is held up because of the crane failure. As of 23rd Aug, the project is about 65% done and the best way to move the project forward depends on identifying the critical path, assessing the tasks that are delayed, and developing a plan for further course for the Nawapur project. In the next 5 weeks (by 30th September) the commissioning of Wind Farm should be completed. To meet the deadline and to avoid loss to the customer, various activities need to be re-scheduled and necessary resources should be arranged for seamless execution. 3. OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY This analysis attempts to do the following 1. Identify the risk and strategies to mitigate the risk. This requires us to evaluate the critical path for the project and allocate resources to fast track the activities on the critical path. 2. Do a cost benefit analysis for manpower and machine resources required to crash the project by incurring additional costs versus using contingency reserves to complete the project on time. 4. RECOMMENDATIONS After evaluating the project progress and the current snag with the equipment, we recommend: 1.
