Plesis, Karla Jean O. Ceit-15-701e Reaction Paper Enemy of the State The movie “Enemy of the State” answers a question that “How can we prevent crimes and accidents in our society? “. It answer that we need to put “CCTV” and satellite that will monitor the action and behavior of every individual but this answer to the question only lead us to another questions. Those questions are “How can we make sure that the technology will be used for common good and not for personal purpose?”, “How can we determine if it is for personal purpose or for common good?” ,”How can we make sure that the personal privacy will be protected?”, “Who will monitor the monitor who monitors us?” The movie shows us that having those technologies will have good and bad effects. It is good because it minimizes the crimes and accidents but what if bad person controls the monitors. If the bad person handles the technology it will lead us to other problems. They can use it for their personal interest and personal gain. And maybe it can use against us, by invading our privacy. It’s hard to answer the question that who will monitor the monitors who monitor us. Privacy is one of the most personal things we likely to live with us alone, because we have thing in our self that we can only understand and none of the business of others. Monitoring us can help us by knowing that we’re protected and secure but we can also say that monitoring us can give those people who monitors us power to overpower us. In this world it’s hard to let anyone to come into our world and trust our life with them. Giving them rights to enter our life will also like giving them rights to kill us.
