SFC Robb 711-13 September 12, 2013 Egypt Culture Introduction Egypt is know for its rich history and location to the Arabic World. The Egyptian culture is defined by “Nepotism” (favoritism as in appointment to a job, based on kinship) is favoritism you get because of you family history. In this overview, I will be covering Egypt Culture to include Egypt location and population, values for the traditions and family, greetings when meeting people and gift giving, as well as religion throughout the region. Egypt Culture is defined “the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc”. Geography Egypt, covering 1,001,449 square kilometers of land, is about the same size as Texas and New Mexico combined. Egypt is known for its four major geography features, the Nile River and the Suez Canal, which the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea. The Highest peak in Egypt is Mount Catherine in the Sinai, at 8,743 feet (2,665 meters). Egypt is surrounded around by Libya on the left and Sudan (Sahara desert) to the south and Red Sea, Jordan, Israel and Saudi Arabia. Without the Nile River, Egypt would be a typical dry desert.
