Most conflicts in the workplace can lead to a lot of negative situations, such as being permanently dismissed from your job, work productivity can decrease, it can also increase absenteeism (which is having numerous absences from your job) and sometimes could even result in violence or serious crimes. Employees can get stressed, frustrated, have extreme anxiety, and possibly commit suicide or even homicide. Most people see conflict as only something to be avoided. Contrary to popular belief, conflict is something that can be quite beneficial if handled in the right way. Conflict is a natural part in any society in which people deal with each other on a regular basis.
So what is a whistle blower? According to Black’s Law Dictionary, a whistleblower is an employee who turns against their superiors to bring a[n] problem out in the open. BusinessDictionary.com states that a whistle blower is a person who discloses improper or criminal activity within an organization. Finally, under Sarbanes Oxley, “A “whistleblower” is someone, usually an employee, who reports an employer who has broken the law to an outside agency.” Under this very important act, whistleblowers are protected by federal and state laws. Employers may not retaliate against them for reporting misconduct.
One person with issues can alter how others team members get along, how motivated they are to do their job, and how effectively they complete projects. Abnormal behavior can also cause unsatisfactory customer service and can possibly cause a business to lose customers. Aggression, narcissism, and passive aggressiveness are all abnormal behaviors that are found in the workplace and can have negative effects on the success of a team. For each of these behaviors, reasons why they are considered abnormal and ideas as to how these behaviors can be treated are discussed. I recommend the company should respond to the former employee’s charge of constructive discharge by first apologizing. This former employee has had a negative impact on their life do to our company, and an apology would not hurt the situation. The government has various laws and statues pertaining to constructive discharge, management needs to avoid anything that could be misconstrued as discrimination in the work place. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) refers to processes and techniques of resolving disputes that fall outside of the judicial process (Alernative Dispute Resolution Law & Legal Definintion, 2011). Legally, this could save the company bad publicity, a great amount of stress, and money that isn’t necessary to spend.
For example, some people that have public work may always have arguments with citizens or colleagues without a clear reason. Besides, sometimes authorities do not face the problems or necessities some workers have. - GOOD To round off, violence in the workplace is a problem that every day develops without fear every day. The society the community live in and the dissatisfaction some people may have with their job are some factors involved.
