What about doing/using something you know could eventually kill you? Truth is, most people using harmful products ignore the possibility of side effects. They are the ones that say “the chances are so slim it won't happen to me.” The lengths people will go, in order to get a quick fix, weather it be a mental fix such as gaining a high or a physical thing such as appearance, are amazing. Maybe they don't care, maybe they are the ones saying “it won't happen to me” or maybe they just don't realize how serious the effects can be. One of the more common quick fixes that more than 28million Americans use is the Tanning bed. Appearance is an important thing in today’s culture. So important, humans go to great lengths to get the “perfect” look. “On an average day, one million Americans visit tanning salons. 92% of these people say that they understand that tanning is dangerous, but they think they look better with a tan” (“Indoor Tanning”). The conclusion of these statistics is that Americans are associating tan with beauty. With the rise of tanning bed usage in the last decade, being dark is now something that is a must to have that perfect look regardless of its negative effects. Most daily tanners ingore the fact that someday you will deal with premature aging, developing tanorexia and the most important, increases your chances of melanoma dramatically. People using the tanning bed for cosmetic purposes often ignore the effect of tanning on the skin after prolonged use. Exposure to UV radiation often causes photoaging, premature aging of the skin. Constant exposure to these rays will eventually result in a leathery appearance of the skin. The skin loses its elasticity forming
