Effective Leadership Style in Kaiser Permanente Corporation Management of Health Services Organizations Benedictine University Lisle, Illinois June 19, 2011 Abstract The leadership style of an organization is the most important factor to ensure an effective and efficient organization emergence. This is because the topic of leadership has been under a lot of speculation from truth-seekers whose focus is on determining the factors of effective leadership. There are a lot of styles, theories and opinions that are bracket together to determine what constitutes as effective leadership. This of course makes the particulars of what produces an effective leader hard to identify. However, one method to assess ineffective or in this case, an effective leadership style is to take a closer look at an organization whose leaders’ exhibits an efficient and effective leadership style within their organization. Effective Leadership Style in the Kaiser Permanente Corporation One organization to look at for efficient and effective leadership style is the Kaiser Permanente Corporation. The Kaiser Permanente Corporation serves 9 states and the District of Columbia with approximately 8.3 million members. The corporation is an incorporated health delivery system that forms and supplies or ordinates members' care, involving preventive care like well-baby and prenatal care, immunizations, and screening diagnostics; pharmacy service and hospital and medical services. However, it is the corporation’s efficient and effective leadership style which allows the company to make effective decisions which contributes to Kaiser's success as the leading not-for-profit managed health care company located in the U.S. (Kaiser Permanente, 2010).
