The police also have to help individuals within, for example if a person is fearful for their safety, then the police would investigate the matter and reassure them, or if a person has gone missing then the police would do anything in their power to find the missing person. The police are a statutory service because it entitles them in their duties to maintain the safety of the public; they also help to form better communities. The police are required to protect and serve in any dangerous situations and as much as possible.
Law enforcement officers need to uphold the law in order to enforce it, so police officers must have a strong sense of right and wrong and they must generally exhibit and encourage good behavior to the public. This sense of right and wrong and the desire to do good in the community is perhaps the most important trait a police officer needs to have. Police officers often find themselves in high-stress, volatile situations. At the other end of the spectrum, they deal with a lot of mundane, routine patrols. They deal with dishonest and dangerous people, and also victimized and abused people.
It is important that every law enforcement officer understand it is their obligation to investigate complaints from community members. It is even more important to know there should be consequences for complaints or misconduct allegations that are found to be true. Law enforcement officers have an obligation to prove to the community they can be trusted and this principle ensures that. In addition to these investigations it is important for law enforcement officers to report inappropriate conduct they witness to their supervisor as well.
Understanding behaviours like this, and understanding what causes them, will assist a Public Service and anybody who works within them. This is because they will be able to stop aggressive or troublesome behaviour before it starts. They will also know specific techniques on dealing with it. The Police Service is not the only Public Service that requires this understanding, every other service will require it too. The ambulance and paramedics will need this because some people will get aggressive when the paramedics try and help them, this is because they may be frightened or confused, and knowing these signs will help the service to calm them down and use the best techniques available to them.

I will also be looking at the performance indicators and what they do on a daily basis. Police The responsibilities of a police officer are often extremely broad. Although their main responsibilities are usually keeping the peace, enforcing the law, protecting the public and property, and the prevention and detection of crimes, officers are usually expected to be able to respond in some fashion to a wide variety of situations that may arise while they are on duty. Non verbal communication, also known as, body language can be very telling of what the speaker actually means to say, or how the speaker feels about what is being said no matter how hard it is tried to be concealed. Public speaking is an inevitable duty of those working in the criminal justice field. When some crimes are committed, the media can latch on to the story and not let go. The media has been known to work side by side in helping the police departments, but it has also been known to work against those in law enforcement.

Most modern police agencies use the organizational subsystem in conjunction with organizational principles and policies and procedures to ensure a department operates efficiently and effectively to provide police services. If there is a breakdown in the organizational structure it can disrupt the day to day operations of the department. The effects of this structural breakdown can range from poor employee morale, abuse of sick leave, high attrition rates, allegations of corruption, and distrust from the public.
