1. Explain the purpose of continuously improving your performance in a business environment. Employees who improve their work performance constantly, are more likely to get promoted in the organisation and thrive within it. Also, in many roles, a part of the pay structure relies upon output. If an employee can improve their output they earn eventually more money.
1.1) The purpose is to become a better all rounded employee for the company thus benefiting the company with better output from yourself. The benefits of improving own performance is not only do you become a creditable asset to the company but you also become a better credit to yourself. Another benefit is that with continuously improving own performance the skills you learn will make every day to day work easier and result in getting work done quicker with less stress. If you’re always learning new skills it makes it easier to adapt to an ever changing business environment. 1.2) Feedback comes in all different way but are almost always positive in some way.
It is important that companies find innovative ways to keep relations high between upper management and the employees themselves. Having good relations trickles down to improved services, improved production, and a happier work force. The best way that a manager / supervisor can do this is to be fair, be firm, and be a part of the team. Employees who have managers / supervisor who have been promoted from within a company and understands the job gives a morale boost when employees see that there are opportunities for them to "increase their status" Employees who have managers / supervisors who are hired " off the streets" sometimes feel resentments, due to the fact that they may feel as if the person is inexperienced. An employee's perception is everything, even if it may be incorrect.
Unit 201 Work in a Business Environment Outcome 2: Understand how to behave in a way that supports effective working Assessment Criteria 2.1 and 2.2 The purpose and benefits of agreeing and setting high standards for my work is for me to produce quality, high standard work that is on time, accurate and professional. It allows for me to show my interest for my work and job role I am fulfilling. It will help to show me in a good light and avoid leaving a poor impression of myself. To help set the high standards for myself I can speak to the manager to discuss what the standards are for the company and what I am required to do to implement this. I can also review pass work to gain a further understanding and feel for what standards are expected for employees of the company.

When correctly designed and implemented as a genuine attempt to help employees reach their full potential, regular performance appraisals can be a great motivational tool that contributes significantly to the organisations success. Acknowledging a staff members strengths and efforts makes them feel confident and appreciated, while helping them identify their weaknesses. It allows us to put strategies in place and develop training plans to strengthen these areas. A satisfied and efficient team makes a happy and productive workplace which goes a long way towards increasing the success and profitability of a business.

Empowerment means giving employees more responsibility and decision making authority so they can feel control over the tasks they are held responsible for and better equips them to carry out those tasks ("Reference for Business; Encyclopedia of Business", 2012).
