The vast majority of the population is living under The World State, which is an eternally peaceful and stable global society in which resources are plentiful and everyone is happy. On the other hand, the society has some flaws. Citizens have no freedom as their happiness is sometimes artificial. The World State also banishes religion, science, art and certain books, making citizens’ individual expression become retarded. Therefore, even though Brave New World is a very stable society, it still has some flaws.

The author added a twist to the story when it was revealed that in order for this peaceful, happy and conflict free society to exist, someone had to endure pain. It was at this point in the story where the connection to the real world was revealed. The world in which us Americans wake up every day could be described a pretty peaceful by most. We don’t see the kind of disease, famine and all out disparity on a large scale as many places in the rest of the world. America’s story relates very directly to “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” in the sense that the
The film can be read as a dark, romantic fable for adults, another take on the disparity between the individual and society, on the unique nature of one single character and the horror of conformity. The Frankenstein story provides the model here. Edward Scissorhands takes up this tradition in so far as the creature becomes an object of sympathy and makes the world around him appear monstrous in comparison with his own innate goodness. It occurs in Mr.Nilson's house and gardens outside. By using this place, the author points out the idea of a same, well-ordered, and familiar life that has alienated man from both the enjoyment and the beauty of the natural world and discusses that how people start caring about money rather than caring about their lives, relation-ships and nature. Mr.Nilson is the protagonist of the story, which means that he is the main character of the story whom the reader empathizes with. Through his actions, thoughts and words we can notice that he is a flat character because he is shown to only accomplish basic, boring tasks with little depth to his character. He is also a static character because in the end of the story he takes no action to solve the problem and make a change.
Also, there really isn’t any way to get ahead because you are always trying to help out everyone else, there isn’t much competition. Also because everyone is so alike there is a lack of culture, mainly because the culture is singular, there is only one. Personally, I do come from a Gemeinschaft. I like its ideals of a sense of community and I like the altruistic small town vibe it exuberates, however, I think part of the reason I like Pittsburgh so much is that it is more of a Gesellschaft.
