Participation in the Seminar is a very important part of this course. It is the one chance that you have each week to interact with your classmates and your instructor real-time. Seminar is a great opportunity to cover course material in a fun and dynamic forum where you can discuss what you’ve learned in each unit and ask questions about topics that you don’t yet understand. Students should actively participate in each seminar. During each seminar, the instructor will be asking students lots of questions from the reading assignments, so there will be many opportunities to answer and to make additional comments or ask questions of your own.
When I started my placement at the surgery I was assigned a mentor for the day, she showed me how to operate the booking system. I was very hesitant at first because her facial expression portrayed her to be very closed off and strict, however this changed when I started interacting with her. She showed me how the operate the booking system. The system showed the times that the doctors were available and when they were on home visits. I made sure that I listened as she spoke and made notes as she was talking.
Vivian reflects on her actions with students and reassesses her life through flashbacks. Through Bearing’s encounters, the reader understands her journey as a cancer patient. There are many stages and aspects of cancer. One being the patient’s journey through it and physiological standpoints. Diraimondo, a registered nurse writes her own story of diagnoses vividly.
Reflection – Handover During my time on placement so far I have encountered the handover of patients between nurses coming on and off duty every single day. The purpose of this essay is to reflect on this event. The purpose of reflection is to promote desirable pactise though the practitioners understanding and learning about his/her lived experiences (John 1995). I have decided to use the first handover that I saw being given for this reflection. It was my first placement on a rehabilitation and palliative care ward.
I watched the nurse’s and talked with them about what they did and how they did it (and how much money they made). That was when I decided what I wanted to do. I wanted to be an ER Nurse. Prior to becoming a nurse, I had the opportunity to become a Certified Respiratory Therapist. I felt that would benefit me as I went to nursing school.
Liberal Learning Seminar Outlook This class will be a class to remember seeing that it was based off of my thoughts and feelings towards so many aspects of life. Dr. Simmons arranged many discussion topics that really scratched the surface of how we should look at life at a different angle. Her lessons on Dr. Maya Angelou and all of the students being able to put our own senses and views in every piece of work during class really open my eyes to many different perspectives. I enjoyed being able to hear my colleagues discuss matters that I view the same and what finding out what ways it impacts their lives. This is one of many classes that I could come to and actually enjoy because it was not strictly about work and whether their was
When attending lectures they are usually presented to a group at the same time and it allows for immediate questions and changes. Professors can distribute to students or recommend options for help for study aids. When doing group projects students can get together more easily to complete tasks. Students have hands on practice of processes and procedures with class work. The professors can select from a variety of assignments.
I am sure my keen interest in psychiatric nursing had a lot to do with this decision. Peplau’s theory of interpersonal relations is based on the nurse and patient developing a type of interpersonal relationship, which developed into a type of partnership, where they are both active members in the patient’s care and outcome. The client is the decision maker and the nurse is there to provide guidance and support to help the patient reach their desired goal (Pearson, 2006). Peplau’s nursing background mostly involved psychiatric patients. She became increasingly involved and interested in psychiatric issues when serving in the United States Army and working at the 312th Station Hospital and School for Military Neuropsychiatry for the European Theatre, during World War II.
The researchers obtained a written approval from the ethical committee of the military education and research hospital and got approval from the nursing department as well. They also explained to the participants the study goals and methods with face-to-face communication. They received oral and written consent from the nurses that participated. The data collection form consisted of two parts and was designed to report the perspectives of nurses on medication errors. The first part of the questionnaire consisted of seven questions regarding the participants age, departments, educational levels, work positions, work intervals, average hours worked per month and shifts.
We had to work closely with mum and we had regular contact with social services. There was an issue regarding child protection which the courts are investigating so we had to look out for and take notes on any bumps or bruises and record them. Child A’s social worker was came out to visit on a regular basis. The manager and I had meetings with her to discuss child a’s needs. I had to answer questions on her development and discuss any concerns or worries that I had about her.
