Case Analysis: Educational Powerhouse: A portrayal of attributes and passion of an Educational entrepreneur. Author : Prof. Mahesh Luthia SVKM’s Institute of International Studies, Mumbai April, 2012 This case examines the characteristics and role of an academician as an entrepreneur and analyzing the strategy of that lead to the success of setting up of an Educational Powerhouse from a mere coaching classes. It looks at aspects of building establishing legitimacy for its operations and build a strong reputation for the group. The process of achieving this is through setting up facilities and resources that would contribute to developing students from a holistic approach. It depicts how the passion of an individual can inspire him to set-up a group of education institute which will add significant value to its stakeholders and complement the environment. Before analyzing the entrepreneur role and discussing the strategic aspects, we need to first start review existing studies and theories of entrepreneurship and identify the role of an entrepreneur which comprehends a broad range of theories and approaches and has been studied in many ways and with different purposes. An entrepreneur is a person who has possession of an enterprise, or venture, and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and the outcome. Role of an Entrepreneur In the context of economic theory, the role of the entrepreneur is depreciated inside the neoclassic paradigm and, sometimes, even doubted the need of a separate entrepreneurship’s economic theory (Demsetz, 1983; Kirzner, 1983). The economists tend to centre more on the function than on the individual and show more interest in the macroeconomic meaning of the entrepreneurship (Kirzner, 1983).
