Education in our Society Education means countless things to different people. It may mean the passing down of cultural values to the next generation or simply being able to read and write. It could also signify being educated so that you are knowledgeable. I will be using examples from the following authors to help you understand why education is an important part of life; Paulo Freire, Kisautaq Leona Okakok, Richard Feynman, as well as Hsun Tsu. The basic definition of education as defined in the Webster Dictionary is, “The field of study that deals mainly with methods of teaching and learning in schools.” It is best taught by using the method of education that teach the learner how to apply what they are learning to life situations and being able to use the information they have received to help them live life. In addition, she talks about how you acquire your knowledge from your surroundings as this supports my definition of education. Tsu
