Caula Rogers Eng-105 English Composition 1 03/30/2014 Dr. Victoria Smith Impact of ADHD on a Child’s Schooling Children with ADHD generally have trouble in school, only because school causes many trials for children with ADHD. ADHD is not a learning disorder; however it can cause children to have problems with learning. Furthermore, children with ADHD have an excessive rate of learning disorders and will have problems with other school-work like calculation and following a long with his/her teacher during direct instructional time. But with enduring and an efficient plan, the child will be capable of succeeding in the classroom. ADHD negatively can affect a child’s social and emotional behavior and the ability to control them in a positive manner in a school environment.
Senior Management Team The Senior Management team is made up of the head teacher and the deputy head. Depending on the size of the school the team can be bigger and more varied. In many schools you will find assistant head teachers or senior teachers with particular responsibilities, like learning one of the key stages or assessments across the school. The special needs coordinator might be a member and also the school business manager. The roles of Senior Management Team is to set the strategic direction of the school and then manage this, lead any changes and generally make sure that the school is doing the best it can for the children that attend.

Educational Psychology. Teachers could apply psychology principles to diagnose and treat behavior and learning problems in their students. They also work with educators and families to address behavioral and academic concern at school and how the family or school could help with the concern and treat it accordingly. Educational psychology both comes from and contributes to cognitive science and the learning sciences. Educational Psychology is useful to determine how an educator and the students’ family can help and work with the student in order for the student to progress.
His interest in children’s cognitive processes developed when he started to notice that children of similar ages made the same kinds of mistakes on test questions. After in depth research, Piaget developed the stages of cognitive development theory. This revolved around the idea that unlike adults, thinking and mental development of children changes qualitatively with age (Passer & Smith, 2013). In order to understand Piaget’s theory, it is important to understand its fundamental principles. The first, Piaget referred to using the term ‘schema’.
Kathy Parker Grand Canyon University: SPE 351 February 1, 2013 The problems associated with assessing students with Intellectual Disability are that the student shows signs and or behaviors. In assessing students a teacher must first understand the disability and all that is contributed to it. Teachers must look at the students’ ability to learn as well as his or her ability to perform daily task such as having the ability to dress them, comb their hair, and interact with others in the same age group as they are. In looking at these factors the teacher looks at a variety of factors such as intelligence scores, questionnaires, and observations in different setting over a period of time. Once this is completed then the teacher is able to assess the student and provide the support that they will need to function in the educational surroundings.
Current Issues Summary and Response Matt 12/12/2010 Intro As a future special education teacher one of my jobs will be to keep up-to-date on current issues in the education field and let my parents know about any helpful development on these current issues. It is important for teachers to keep tabs on new developments that could be useful to better their understanding of education as a whole. There are a plethora of current issues involving special education. These issues range from more controversial to less controversial. Some of the more controversial issues are the use of tests to place students into special education, how should we grade students with special needs and how to discipline a student who is in special education.
Children with learning disabilities or difficulties in social settings can often experience “otherness” in a classroom. As a teacher it would be my responsibility to notice if a student was being “othered”, to identify who is participating in the “othering” of the child, and assisting the child and classmates in recognizing the changes that might need to be made to overcome whatever the reasons are behind “othering”. Paying attention to the student’s social interactions during class and at recess time would allow me to be able to notice if a child is being “othered”. In the classroom, how do the majority of students react to each child as they actively participate in classroom discussions? If most of the students scoff, eye roll, or additionally demonstrate disrespectful behaviors it would be worthwhile to monitor other classroom interactions between students.
h. To create an effective IEP, parents, teachers, other school staff--and often the student--must come together to look closely at the student's unique needs. These individuals pool knowledge, experience and commitment to design an educational program that will help the student be involved in, and progress in, the general curriculum. The IEP guides the delivery of special education supports and services for the student with a disability. Without a doubt, writing--and implementing--an effective IEP requires teamwork. 6.
1.1 Explain why effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults. Why effective communication is important Effective communication is important because it helps to improve the understanding between pupils and their adults. It also helps the staff at schools to communicate their feelings about students and plan future work. Sometimes if the communication is not very good between the adults in a classroom, it can affect the pupils. Children can notice the bad communication and that would not set a good example for growing, young children.
