Businesses were flooded along the Texas coast and lost all of their vital technology such as computers, telephones, and other office equipment. This caused a huge burden on many businesses and some businesses were totally destroyed, which left many workers unemployed. Many homes were flooded from the storm surge that got as high as twenty feet. In one city alone, 3,382 out of 3,400 homes were totally destroyed due to flooding. This causes thousands of people to become homeless and displaced.

The “Red Death” was so devastating, it destroyed half the population. This horrific plague contained the most horrific manifestations. The manifestations consist of sharp pains, sudden dizziness, and profuse bleeding at the pores with disintegration. Anyone that the plague came upon, caused reddening stains on the face and the body would appear, which caused the individual to be thrown in a secluded quarantine factory.

Alas, Babylon, written by Pat Frank, is a frightening pessimistic story because the dramatic effects of a nuclear war almost wipes out the population, causes more criminal activity, and a rampage of diseases to spread across the country. The life of the River Road Family took a fatalistic turn after a massive bombing by the Soviet Union kills millions of people, including their friends and family. “This was the end. Civilization was crushed” (page 103).
The airline industry was hit enormously. People everywhere were terrified by the thought of flying. There were major health issues that soared to an all-time high. The disaster shook the entire nation. People were no longer safe in their own environment.
The initial impact was devastating which left about 300,000 people homeless out of a population of about 410,000. Many of the people were evacuated to nearby cities, and the others lived in makeshift tents on the beach of North beach. In fact years later in 1908 these refugee camps were still in operation. The overall cost of the damages was estimated at the time to be 400 million US Dollars (around 8.2 Billion present Dollars). The fires that were a direct result from the main shock and the aftershocks were just as damaging because of the uncontrollable burning from ruptured gas lines.
Resolution- In conclusion, the Halifax Harbour was destroy. Everyone was freaked out because of the explosion and/or lost someone that’ was near the explosion. Also the Halifax explosions had a massive impacted in Canada. Almost all the north end of the Halifax was destroyed and killed so many that Canada released a relief effect. It took 18 millions of dollars to repair the North of the
Secretaries, businessmen, mothers and fathers. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by despicable acts of terror. Most Americans remember where they were when the series of malicious events occurring, and the feeling of shock they had when it was first heard on the news. On that day most citizens were scared for their lives and the lives of loved ones involved in the attack. It wasn’t until three or four years later people started to ask questions about who was behind the events.
She caused billions upon billions of dollars in damage. The city’s lack of preparedness was as large of a culprit as the hurricane itself. I remember it like it was yesterday, it was on August 29, 2005, the horrific monster Hurricane Katrina destroyed my hometown in New Orleans, Louisiana, losing everything I owned and loved. Hundreds of thousands of lives were changed forever, even mines in countless ways. Hundreds of people died, but even among survivors, a hand full lost all that was familiar. I have witnessed and experienced really grueling things that my eyes can’t get rid of. I've saw plenty of dead bodies floating in the disgusting toxic water, as we walked through the water to get to higher ground.
Damage, costing billions of dollars, has made it one of the costliest storms on record. The storm had many social impacts including looting, unsanitary conditions, violence in the streets (functionalist perspective). Also people were separated from their loved ones (interactionist perspective). And the problems with FEMA (conflict perspective). In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, looting, violence and other criminal activity became serious problems.
