We can’t protect children from all the things that may cause them distress throughout their lives. But we can help children become more resilient so that they are more able to cope with life’s uncertainties and problems. And all children, no matter what their background, will have to face problems and changes in their lives. So our support is really important in helping children become more resilient. 1.3 The good emotional health of children
Without the understanding of each individual facilities policies and protocol, providing safety would be a difficult task. One area of safety that is essential for success is classroom safety. There are several things that every child care center will have to ensure safety. One of the most important strategies to provide a safe classroom is to follow ratios and have constant supervision. Everyone that is in the classrooms is should be aware of the classroom safety policy.
Unit 027 Support Children and Young People’s Health and Safety Outcome 1 Understand how to plan and provide environments and services that support children and young people’s health and safety. Learning Outcome 1 There are a number of important factors to take into account when planning for healthy and safe environments whilst setting up activities and services with children and young people. It is necessary in planning activities to remember each individual’s needs and abilities and that all children need supervision at all time. Everyday I have to take into account the different children I have in my group and that each child has a different level of ability and needs compared to others so when I am setting up activities I need to ensure that each child will be able to take part and enjoy the activity as well as learn at the same time. Activities that I would have to put a lot of through into would be a physical exercise because this activity could be difficult for a child who has just learnt to walk.
Along with protecting the children from any harm we also have to safeguard ourselves avoiding risk of accusations of misconduct in the work place, acting professional throughout the whole working day. 2.1: Describe potential conflicts or dilemmas that may arise between the duty of care and an individual’s rights. 2.2: Describe how to manage risks associated with conflicts or dilemmas between an individual’s rights and the duty of care. As a practitioner we have a responsibility for children as we take on a temporary role in their lives. When working in a nursery there are many dilemmas that could occur, such as a child having dietary needs whether it is through religion, allergies or just certain food or
As an infant, we form our first relationship as an attachment with our caretaker. The development of the caretaker-to-infant bond is, in many ways, essential to the infant's survival and influences all later attachments and our overall emotional and social development. Infant’s experiences are critical to shaping the capacity to form intimate and emotionally healthy relationships. Empathy, caring, sharing, inhibition of aggression, capacity to love, and many other characteristics of a healthy, happy, and productive person are related to the core attachment capabilities formed during infancy and early childhood. Attachment is important because children need to have a sense of security in all aspects of their lives so that they can grow up to be healthy and productive adults.
SHC 34 - Principles for Implementing Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings 1.1 Duty of Care “A requirement to exercise a reasonable degree of attention and caution to avoid negligence that would lead to harm to other people”. When working with other people we each have a duty of care to prevent any situation which could potentially cause harm to others, for example, leaving spilt liquids/food or damaged equipment unattended. This is particularly relevant when working with babies and young children, as they have yet to develop the ability to foresee and cope with potential hazards. Young children and babies are completely dependent on the adults in their lives to provide for their every need, so when working with young children, you will be responsible for providing a significant duty of care, as young children are vulnerable and require your full attention. You must always be aware of yours and the children’s surroundings as it is your vigilance that will keep them safe until they are able to develop the cognitive and physical skills they need to care for themselves.
It is important for those people who discourage day care to realize that not all parents can afford to stay at home with their children all day, as much as they would like to. In the end, the child benefits from day-care because the living earned by the parent during this time, or even education earned during this time, will benefit the child in future. In addition, it is worth noticing that children in day-care tend to be better adjusted people, due to spending time with people outside their own families. This teaches them how to interact with others. It is the interactions between the parents and other caregivers that actually affect the way a baby’s brain is wired for later learning, as has been suggested by Dr. Diane Arnold, vice president of education for Children’s World Learning Centers.
Which the effects of bullying can and has effected peoples lives and not in a good way. Because if it wasn’t for being bullied then you wouldn’t have to skip school, move away, become homeschooled, or worse hurt yourself or others. Because that is something you can’t take back. This kind of information could one day save your child’s life. From the time our children are born and throughout there entire lives, all we want to do is protect them.
As teachers assistant we should ensure that there is no harsh lighting like fluorescent light as this can bring discomfort after a prolonged time and cause headaches. Also the area chosen should not be too noisy. * Organisation All Equipment should be stored safety so that it does not present a hazard and all drawers and storage should be clearly marked so that it is clear where different equipment are kept. This will enable the children to find the equipment more easily. * Furniture The furniture in the room should be of appropriate size for the age of the children so that they can work comfortably.
Typical wear and tear can also result in a toy that was once deemed sage to become a danger. Caregivers should maintain a frequent check of toys to ensure their continued safety. Caregivers and parents should also be aware of the violence that some toys may present. Violent toys are not developmentally appropriate or safe for children. Toys that include swords or guns should not be available to young children.
