The theme self-image is shown as Scott monk argues that it is best to be true to yourself. The idea of being true to yourself can be seen in the text: “Quote”. This clearly shows Brett developed his self-image and progressed throughout the novel. Adam shankman also presented self-image in his film A walk to remember as the main character Landon Carter who is similar to Brett Dalton as they are both rebellious teenage boys and change from selfish to selfless. When Landon meets Jamie his whole life changes and he then makes other people happy and puts her first instead of worrying about his friends and popularity.
Rodriguez used Hoggart’s definition of scholarship boy to explain what had happened to him, because Rodriguez found that he is actually an example of scholarship boy. Rodriguez as a reader and writer had the real experience of being a scholarship boy; it is obviously that he had the greater authority to be an expert in demonstrating and explaining scholarship boy. However, Hoggart is the one who wrote about the scholarship boy first. If Hoggart did not write about scholarship boy, then Rodriguez would never have a chance to see the book. In addition, the book is extremely essential to Rodriguez, because the book made him realize the problems and mistakes that he had experienced as a scholarship boy.
Although he was quite young to be part of the greaser’s gang, Ponyboy Curtis showed many people that he could have been one of the greatest hero’s in the novel. Ponyboy is one of the few people in the story who respected others as well as Socs and did not enjoy fighting. Throughout the story, Ponyboy ponders the question, ‘why people in both the Greaser’s and Soc’s gang enjoyed fighting’. The answers he received which were, “It’s fun” or “It’s for pride” or even “because we hate the Socs”. Ponyboy thought this was just an act of self-defence.
They were very important to Huck’s moral growth. They conned and stole from many innocent people, and made Huck a part of it. Although Huck was involved in some of their scams, he knew that what they were doing was wrong. He went along with them so he and Jim would not get in trouble, this showed that Huck did care for Jim and wanted to protect him. As he watched them do terrible things, he grew from their negative influence.
What he needs is a friend that can give him advice and hear him out instead of the friends he usually has who make fun of him and make him do whatever they want him to do. EXAMPLEEEEs Toby has many incidents that keep him from realizing his true identity. In the beginning he wants to change himself by becoming a whole new person, a better person, a more improved him. “I didn’t come to Utah to be the same boy I’d been before. I had my own dreams of transformation…”(8).
He is challenged with the fact that Jim is a colored man; and that he, himself is a very pro-slavery person but that he has a strong friendship with him. Huck comes to his senses and accepts Jim for who he is. Huck also gains maturity and respect for others as he meets new people and experiences new things. Overall Huckleberry Finn’s transformation throughout this book is that he has gained compassion for others and starts listening to what others have to say but also that he has matured from a young boy into a young

(Card 19) Even in the middle of the book when Ender is confiding in Bean, he states that he felt he could not lose any of the battles, for some reason which he did not reveal (Card 197). This drive is so embedded into Ender’s personality that even he can not understand it himself, or it is so personal he can not even reveal it to one of his closest companions while at the school. This gives Ender a passion that soon boosts the rest of his army, and they too come to realize that being good is not enough; they have to be superior. Although these are just three characteristics that explain why Ender is such a great leader, there are many more reasons listed in the
This period can be a time of discovery and reflection into what type of adult one wants to become; in this I strongly agree with Zinsser. His position at the college lends to his credibility and allows him behind the scenes insight as to the pressures of college life. According to Zinsser several college Dean’s have noted the change in mindset of students from helping the world, to getting a leg up on their competition.2 I agree that restricting classes to only those applicable to a degree is a disservice to oneself because my experience doing just that and the tremendous stress of the work load confirmed it. The words of William Zinsser urged college students then and now to embrace this journey for what it is, stressful, ever changing, and savor the experience for what it can be, wonderful. Zinsser, William.
The central idea of this movie is the lessons learned by two geniuses. Through William’s help Jamal is able to discover the amazing writing talent he has, and through Jamal’s help William is able to discover the world that he only saw through his window for the past forty years. This move was able to bring this idea across clearly through its amazing characters. The characters of Jamal and William worked well together, and the metamorphosis that underwent both of them was clear. Jamal’s writing became amazingly good and William was able to see himself as an actual person rather then just an author.
