Murray and Ungar Synthesis In the many recent debates about how to approach higher education, one issue that has constantly appears is the question of students benefiting from a liberal arts based education. Some argue that a liberal arts education is helpful in teaching students the basic life skills, others claim that a more specific field of study is necessary in order to b successful in life. In Ungar’s essay “the New Liberal Arts”, he claims that with a liberal arts education, students can benefit tremendously when they receive their jobs. In Murray’s essay “Are Too Many People Going to College”, he proclaims that a liberal arts degree is not highly recommended because the more difficult careers want students to take classes that are more specific to a job. Sanford J. Ungar and Charles Murray both conduct and display their own opinion towards the facts they learned through their own strenuous research.
“I think people change a great deal between 18 and 22” – Dr. Neuhauser, president of St. Michael’s College. Not only could such courses open doors to this ‘self-discovery’, but also having a larger set of skills is going to make one a more knowledgeable, credible, and interesting person. Colleges want to prepare an individual for the ‘real world’ and are putting their best foot forward to help develop certain tools to help the students. If you are a person who can communicate well with writing and also orally, that alone will help you in any situation, not just a focused major. Also brought up in the article is being able to make a choice, or an argument and being able to defend your side of that argument.
Another cause could be that those books can be found elsewhere online for cheaper. The University store was forced to keep the price of the textbooks the same, but as time went on, the price became cheaper on different online websites. PROCEDURES TO IMPROVE STORE’S OBSOLESCENCE PROBLEM First off, the University store has to be mindful of the demand for these textbooks. There is no need to order hundreds of extra books without knowing for sure if they are going to sell out or not. They must instead order a small number of books and see how students react to it.
The environment factor plays the biggest roll. There has to be a lot of people. A colleges are the best location although some students and staff might not want to donate blood, so I will prioritize them by giving examples of past donors and how they saved someone life. 3). Summary of “Are Colleges Worth the Price of Admission?” In the article, “Are Colleges Worth the Price of Admission?” by, Andrew Hacker and Claudia Drefius there are many suggestions on how to reform colleges to make the price of admission worth it to students attending. One idea stated in the article was engaging all students; “professors must make an effort to reach their students” (180). The authors are suggesting that instead of just teaching day to day curriculum they should pay attention to how all the students are performing. Another point stated was that colleges are not pushing their students minds. Instead of worrying about the pay off the students should be concerned with developing all they can intellectually.
Continuing training and coaching as collaborations work can provide encouragement during the process. Also, allotting time for the teams to meet outside of the direct patient care will allow members to help set agendas and evaluate progress and address issues. Providing incentives and recognition to effective collaborations also play roles in building successful teams (Taplin, Foster, & Shortell 2013). The organization can also aid in developing efficient workflows and set clear team rules. Also, it is important for team members to be involved in decisions that affect their team.
It is important to keep a balance of the important things in one’s life otherwise, weaknesses can be developed that shadows over a person’s natural strength to prioritize. A balance of the important things in one’s life is what allows personal success to be achieved. Successfulness is the ability to seize new opportunities and explore new paths in life. Balance is the key to success because when there is balance in one’s life there is a cut back of stress, which makes room for the ability to thrive; and a person’s ability to thrive is what carries them to their personal success. To be successful is to understand what is important to you, to recognize your weaknesses without hiding behind them, to strive for balance as well as open new doors in life.

And it can and does happen that students on the academic borderline cross into the college promised land because of the power of their essays! People can take advantage of this free college, taxes can be raised, and it can take more time for employees, but there is a way you can fix all of the problems. To be able to have free community college, there should be restrictions against it. If a student doesn’t have a 3.0 grade point average, or if as student doesn’t have a 18 or higher on their ACT, if the attendance is below 95%, and a high school diploma. if there requirements aren’t met, then you shouldn’t allow free community college to that particular person. In conclusion, I believe free community college should be allowed.
Our country prides itself on encouraging its citizens to better themselves through education. (P) While its priority has been high school graduation, many jobs now require college degrees, making higher education more important than ever. While I understand that every American should be expected to sacrifice during this hard time, just as we were in World War II, I feel that this particular sacrifice would put our country in an even worse state. (S) Our work force will not be prepared to handle nor understand the advancements that we have strived so hard to achieve. College is made to prepare students with the newest information possible, so that we can constantly be improving ourselves and be able continue to compete with the world’s leading nations.
