Do awards and prizes serve any useful purpose? Awards and prices are given to people regardless of their ages, races or religions, and are normally awarded to the excellencies in various fields. Awards and prizes are useful in showing the acknowledgment of others which prove that their efforts have been merited. The society now has become a more competitive one. We are able to compete on anything, for example the fastest man who can finish eating most hot-dogs competitions and the best-selling story book in the world. Since young, parents have instilled the important of competitions into their children. The children would build up the confidence level when they were awarded from certain competitions such as sports or quizzes. They would also feel delighted when a simple prize like candies had been awarded to them and would lead to a positive energy from doing the right attitude.…show more content…
The winners in the competitions will be recognized with the award reminding them to work hard for their results the next time. This might also highly motivate the third runner-up who was not awarded to overtake the second runner-up. Thus, the student would strengthen up their weaknesses. Students will be awarded scholarship based on their excellent academic grades from respectable schools and universities. The award can help the less fortunate families to reduce their financial burdens. In the meantime, it helps to develop one’s abilities to becoming a better person to help others in the future. The students’ parents would also award their children some luxuries like latest models of mobile phone or branded products which the teenagers nowadays would desire for, in order to motivate their children to be more focused with their studies.
