Disasters At Sea There are many types of disasters at sea. Some can be as minor as a man falling overboard. Others can be as serious as what happened to the Titanic and Costa Concordia. There are disasters that can hurt every living person and animal on a cruise. A disaster like that might be a virus or sickness that is spreading to everyone. Other disasters hurt the ship enough to make it go down under. The Titanic is an example of that. The boat crew has to be very cautious of rocks and icebergs that can break the ship. Other kinds of disasters like fire are also as serious as getting trapped underwater. When there is a fire, oxygen in the air helps it get bigger. When you’re on a boat, oxygen at sea comes faster and helps it get bigger faster. All cruise ships have drills for any type of disaster. In a fire, you may need to stay in different parts of a ship that are smoke free. If a ship starts to sink, you would have to get on lifeboats to survive. Other type of disasters may leave a ship stranded. If a boat looses electricity, it would have to stay where it is. You would have to entertain yourself in any way possible. Many sea disasters can make a vacation unforgettable. That is if you live. Incidents like the titanic left hundreds of people dead. Most people on the cruise ship, Costa Concordia, have a memory on what happened to them on that day. In an emergency, it becomes scary to be the captain. This is especially if the ship is sinking. One of the number one rules for ship captains is, a good captain always goes down with his ship. The most common known disaster is the Titanic where the Captain went down with his ship. A recent happening on the Costa Concordia had its Captain jump out. After all the people were gotten out of water, the Captain ended up arrested for disobeying one of a ship captain’s most important ship law. In many
