Marina Farnbach Final Draft Comparison/Contrast Essay Dining Hall Food Does Not Compare to Home Food Seventeen million high school graduates went off to college in August 2010, not knowing the dangers that would soon follow them through the next year. College students have busy, on-the-go lives, which are completely different from their high school lives. These students are now on their own, trying to figure out how to take care of themselves. They fight to fing the time for everything that needs to be done throughout the week, such as doing homework, participating in social events, and volunteering. As the students’ lives change, it is especially difficult to find time for personal care. When students are forced to choose between taking the time to cook healthy food and eating healthy or grabbing a quick meal at the dining hall, the usual choice is to grabbing something fast. Lifestyle puts young students at risk for health issues in the future, and short term weight gain. Living on campus, in particular, forces students to eat unhealthy food, which will end up hurting their bodies. Dining hall food has no benefits; unlike home cooking that has better quality, taste, and health benefits. Home cooking and food at the dining hall are completely different in about every aspect imaginable. One of the biggest and most important differences is the how food is served. Dining Halls use ingredients that are targeted for large consumption, unlike a home cooked meal which is focused on family sized portions. Every so often, people have a craving for a dish in particular. In the Dinning the dishes are made for the general public, not for an individuals craving. They have many dishes; three dishes never change, while there are two other dishes that change every meal. At home every meal is made to your liking and if you do not like the food that is made then
