The passage of the “Pick the Public’s Pocket No More” bill would lower college application rates, lower college graduation rates, and lower our country’s number of new college graduates for open positions in the work force. Without grants, many Americans would not be able to pursue college degrees because of the debt they would acquire financing their degree with loans alone. Federal grants allow young adults, who are the future of our country, to pursue a college degree without the full burden of college debts after graduation. (M) When considering whether or not to pursue a degree, many are persuaded to apply because they often receive grants to assist
When one takes a deeper look into the workings of each culture, the specifics of religion and treatment vary widely. India, for the majority of its classical period, focused mainly on Hinduism as the primary religion. On the other hand, China had various separate religions throughout the country; such as Confucianism and Legalism. The reason Hinduism lasted as a more general religion, is because it included so many different gods and tolerated numerable ways of worship. Also, Confucianism and Legalism incorporated
The Chinese believed in strict social groups and people were expected to behave according to their social position. This belief was further reinforced by the Chinese philosopher Confucius, who taught that strict social order and discipline was the key to a successful society. Men and women in ancient China were not equal and men were afforded far more privileges than women. The Chinese strongly believed in the wisdom of the elders and, as such, grandparents were greatly respected beneath the emperor, there were four main social classes in ancient China. These four classes were nobles and officials, peasants, artisans and merchant.
He goes on to say in the second misperception, “college graduates are finding it harder to get good jobs with liberal arts degrees”, but “the recession has no differentiated among major fields of study in its impact” (192). Ungar believes students who focus on one particular field of study do not learn necessities such as writing and literary texts, and this puts them at a disadvantage when compared to a liberal arts graduate. While long-standing jobs, such as doctors and lawyers, will not become extinct soon, liberal arts graduates have a better chance of employment in most areas. 95% of employers surveyed would give hiring preference to graduates with skills to contribute in the workplace. 74% would recommend a liberal arts education to a young person they know today, so they will be prepared for success in today’s global economy.
China.Criminal Law. What is Chinese Law? Chinese law is one of the oldest legal traditions in the world. In the 20th and 21st century, law in China has been a complex mix of traditional Chinese approaches and Western influences. For most of the history of China, its legal system has been based on the Confucian philosophy of social control through moral education, as well as the Legalist emphasis on codified law and criminal sanction.
Another problem was that even though there are anti-discrimination policies, a slight differential treatment towards minorities is still present. Employers expect and demand more input from minority groups and that is why people are hesitant to leave their workplace to cast a vote (Rivers, 2012). An outside source looks at voting from a different perspective. An interestingly opposing statistic is that minority groups with higher education and social status take the time to participate, as voting is very important to them. They want to take part in the choice of their government because it took so long and so much effort for them to receive the equal rights and abilities to enjoy democracy (Speel, 2010).
Many jobs require high school graduates, but the jobs offered couldn’t be called satisfactory enough, especially the salary. In order to get a good job with good salary, a higher degree is required. Students with a high school diploma can instantly further their education in community colleges, universities, and even an accredited online university. By doing so, when graduated with a new title, more and more jobs with great salary are there to offer. In contrast, high school dropouts have zero chance in this
Chiara Tuzzato, major in Chinese language and culture at Ca’ Foscari University Identity, Heritage and Globalization: Mid-term paper The problems of Chinese Identity: Han versus Minorities Identity China has always had a strong tendency in consider itself as a united and unique country, separated from the rest of the world. Since the Han period (206 B.C.-220A.C. ), and later through the succession of the Dynasties, the shifting territories that belonged to the Empire had developed a primeval idea of Chinese identity, based mainly on the imperial central authority and a symbolic conception of power. This complex political symbolism combined the traditional cosmological theories, which had a Confucian matrix, with the influence of other cultures, such as the Tibetan Buddhism. Even if there have been several influential predominant cultures that penetrated and conquered the leadership throughout the centuries (namely Mongolian and Manchurian cultures, Buddhism and also partially Islamism).
For example, there was no way ancient Chinese could have survived without really believe in collectivism and being cooperative with others. There were 3 stages in the development of the collectivism in China. The first stage was the patriarchal collectivism, and then it was the national collectivism. And the final stage of collectivism in China was the social collectivism. In the ancient time, about 10000 B.C.
The other advantage is that American universities provide students with actual working skills and experience for the opportunity. Chinese universities have two big benefits: one is the Chinese universities offer a very strong social cohesion; four years of campus life that lets the whole class form a very close relationship with each other. The second is the academic advantage. Chinese university students focus on their own academic research, so Chinese students will more easily be experts in their own professional field, especially natural science students (Davnie). The American universities’ disadvantages also are obvious.
