Destination Barbados Hospitality and Tourism Management - HTM100 Professor Isreal Johnson Strayer University April 28, 2012 Barbados is one of the most frequently visited islands in the Caribbean. It is an island that should be visited at least once in one's lifetime. With a population of about 250,000 people, it welcomes over 2 million visitors per year to its beautiful shores. Barbados has a very good infrastructure, with a modern international airport, which is the hub for the eastern Caribbean, a deep water harbor, a major highway which links the north and south of the island, and a network of paved roads, making it very convenient to travel around the island. (BTI, April 2012) In addition to the great infrastructure, it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, wonderful friendly people, and an array of delicious foods, local fruits and delicious beverages of your choice. Why People Come People come from all over the world to visit Barbados, because of its beautiful climate, which ranges between 86 degrees in the day and falls to around 77degrees at night. The island is also blessed with cooling breezes so that it’s rarely unbearably hot.(Barbados.org April 2012) Barbados is the leading island destination in the Southern Caribbean for North America, British and European tourist. (BTI, April 2012) From Queens and Princes, to the thousands of tourist from Europe, Canada and the United States, Barbados is known for its hospitality. “Once a hideaway for the elite, this Caribbean island now lures an eclectic mix of visitors, with stylish hotels and shops, a thriving restaurant scene, and deserted beaches.” (Travel and Leisure, 2012) The island has many repeat visitors, with noted celebrities, making it their home. People also come because of the stability of the island; they feel safe knowing that they can venture out among the natives
