Summertime in Maui My mom came through the garage with a smile on her face that gleamed bigger than the sun. Only thing bigger than her smile was the sound that spoke, “were going to Maui this summer for one month!” Browsing hours on the internet regarding every aspect of Maui doesn’t prepare you for the actual trip. Getting off the plane began like most airport trips; millions of people packed in like a can of sardines. Everyone talking nonstop about their luggage, car rentals, money and all I could think is how could this be a trip of relaxation. Tired, hungry, we walked towards our car rental and it was like we followed the rabbit in his hole from Alice in Wonderland and suddenly the talking was gone, no more crowds; the sky became blue, the air was relaxing and as we drove to our home for the month, the ocean water was picture perfect blue. For one month, my adventures took me along the beaches of Maui, the drive to Hana, and of course, the many spenders of food. Getting up in the morning has been easy but for some reason, the beach was calling me. My window was open and I can smell the ocean waters. Usually, the smell of salt waters from Santa Monica beach has never been a good thing. Nonetheless, it was calling. The sand was filled with thousands of tiny shells. It only was a problem when the wind blew because they hit your skin like being poked in the leg with thousands of needles. Yet, seeing the blue clear waters made that all ok. The water rushed up my leg as if the water were tiny little fingers massaging my legs; it felt incredible! My dad held my hand because he wasn’t sure how I would take to water but I couldn’t get enough. I jumped around, splashed water everywhere and on everyone.
