There are many different techniques used for coloring hair. The quickest and easiest technique is doing a tint touch-up on a single process color, or in other words dyeing the outgrowth or roots. A single process color is color or tint applied to all of the hair. It is the opposite of a highlight or frosting in which you only lighten certain strands and areas of the hair. If you were applying a tint touch up to ash brown hair which has already been colored to a shade of auburn, the process is quite simple. The necessary tools needed for this task are the following: a plastic cape, a pair of plastic gloves, a tint brush, measuring cup, hair clips, 20 volume peroxide, a two ounce bottle of the chosen hair color, which in this case is light auburn. You will also need a comb, brush, towel, shampoo, conditioner, a timer, hair dryer and a plastic tint bowl. Be sure the bowl is plastic and not metal because the peroxide in a mental bowl will cause a chemical reaction. While the hair is dry, the first thing you need to do is lightly brush the hair to remove any tangles. Make sure you do this lightly because vigorous brushing will stimulate the scalp and cause the pores to open and result in a burning sensation when the color product is applied. The second thing you need to do is part the hair into four sections. Begin at the middle of the front hairline, and with your comb, part the hair back and down to the nape of the neck. Comb these two sections out of your way off to the sides of the head. To make the next two parts go behind either ear and part the hair straight across the head to the opposite ear. Comb the hair into the four separate sections and clip them. Now begin preparing the color. Open the bottle of tint and empty the contents into the plastic bowl. With the measuring cup measure two ounces of the 20 volume peroxide, and pour the contents
