1. Which of Deming's 14 points stands out to you the most? Why? I really enjoy point 5. I have to say that I love this point mostly because of a conversation that I had with the CEO of Browning recently. He told me that a focus of their company was constant improvement. He said that so many companies today get complacent with the way they do business and how functionality works in the office. We were talking about hiring employees straight out of college, and he said that they have a tendency to focus on constant improvement. There comes a time when they are with a company for long enough that they get complacent if not constantly focusing on improvement. I guess the reason that I clicked on this point so much was because of our conversation but it made so much sense to me that he was the CEO and he was following one of Demings points, maybe without even knowing it. 2. Identify one of the points that you may disagree with. Then suppose that you are Deming and explain why that point is important for maintaining quality. The one that I disagree with is point 10. I believe that it is very important to have slogans for each employee to look forward to. It seems like there is absolutely no harm in having an employee of the month. It helps to build the self esteem of the individual and could help people around see where they have come from and the happiness they feel from accomplishment, and hopefully help them in return to work harder. I do see Deming’s point though in only having one winner and many losers. This could create an environment that is very negative to those that are around. People can feel pessimistic about their job and could even lose motivation. I believe that it is important that people employees are all on the same page. There is a solution; everybody, as a whole, could be rewarded for hitting a goal that has been strived for. 3.
