The president is the physiognomy of our nation and is a more authentic representative of the American people than is Congress. The presidency is the only office directly elected by the entirety of the population and represents a comprehensive climate of the nation. Americans can easier identify with and place confidence in the person of the president than with a body of delegates of whom perhaps a handful is known to anyone citizen. Moreover, recent studies   have shown congressional members have become more of a declaration for the extreme views of their parties and less representative of the populace. The voice of the people has been made less affecting and left buried beneath the bullhorn of party ideology and lobbyist contributions.

It was the intention of the framers to vary the responsiveness of each body within the two branches (legislative and executive) and represent the population from unique perspectives. The terms and conditions of each body would guarantee a variety of public concerns. The House was intended to be sensitive to population change and therefore can direct a more effective petition on behalf of localized issues than the other body. On the other hand, the Senate, whose function is to assure equal state representation, provides localized representation indirectly through its natural duties and process. Although less in tune to the cadence of the American people, it represents an additional and unique perspective on the responsiveness within the legislative branch. However, It is only the presidency, through its unique election, that is given a direct link to the American people and thus the verity to the question of which is the more authentic representative of the American people.
