Everyday Life Debate Speaking Project TASK: Your group must WRITE a script, MEMORIZE it, FILM it and bring it to class on a USB drive. You will have 4-5 people in your group. ALL Members MUST speak. You may choose your own groups. 1. Your video must last at least 5-6 minutes. 2. Every member must have a minimum of 20 lines of speaking each. A line is NOT 1-3 words. It must be a full, complex or compound sentence. 3. You must include debate skills in your video. 4. You must type your script and TURN IT IN during class. Class 078: Tuesday, May 21. Class 076: Wednesday, May 22. 5. You must use props, accessories or other items in you skit. It should be as realistic as possible. 6. Edit your project until you are completely satisfied with it. You may include outtakes at the end if you wish. IDEAS: 1) You are in a group of friends and have to decide where you want to eat dinner. Because the group cannot agree on a location, a debate occurs. 2) You are students in an English class. You class has a mock debate, and funny/strange/bad things happen during the class. 3) You want to borrow your parents’ car, and they refuse to allow it. You have to use the finer points of debate to persuade them to allow you to use the car. 4) Your own idea! Anything is okay; just remember that you have to have 20 lines, use advanced vocabulary and grammar, include a debate, argument, or discussion while using the skills you have learned in class, and have visual aids! * You will be graded according to the rubric on the next page. * Please attach the rubric to your script. * The video project is worth 40 points. * Turning in the script on time is worth 10 points.
