According to thefreedictionary.com, the “generic term for all persons convicted of crimes involving sex, including rape, molestation, sexual harassment and pornography production or distribution” is a sex offender. Some people may argue about the punishment offenders receive and think it is not enough. Just throwing them in jail does not fill up justice. These horrible people deserve more punishment then they are given. Maybe perhaps castration would heal the broken hearts of families and children?
Assured, you can lock a child up for violence and take him off the streets, but then that just causes a domino effect. The purpose of juvenile court is treatment and guidance rather than punishment so it is the state’s responsibility to protect and rehabilitate young offenders. Since psychology showed a difference between children and adult prisons because they do not have the same rights as adults and are not fully developed either.
If you commit a terrible crime such as being a sexual predator/child molester or something of that nature the shame will be with you the rest of your life and it’s going to be hard overlooking it because of the laws we have placed. In jail the inmates will even look down on you and treat you like scum they will even threaten your life. The shame for somebody doesn’t stop after the crime has been forgotten about or once they are out of jail. They have to register themselves as a sexual offender you can’t just move and try to leave it behind you. With the internet we have websites that allow us to see if sex offenders live near us it will give you there exact address.
Sexual offenders should be monitored for the rest of their lives because statistics show that they are likely to repeat their first offense, to ensure the safety of society, and there are alternative treatments. Throughout our nation, the percent of repeating sex offenders is greatly increasing. By now we are numb to the folly of a system that keeps putting dangerous sexual offenders back on the streets. After being let go five times by the state of California, Warren Bland, a notorious sexual predator was finally convicted and put on death row for the mutilation and murder of a little girl (Breig168). Richard Allen Davis, according to Tucker Carlson has “a monstrous personality (168)” and was apprehended for killing Polly Klass after being released multiple times.
Government knows that people are going to break these laws, and hope to catch every single criminal, and nail them for every court fee, fine, probation fee, and as much bail as they can dish out. Sadly, this seems to be the criminal justice’s answer to the government’s shortage on money. As adults, we need to unite, and rid ourselves of these crooked politicians and government officials. There is no strong argument against an eighteen year old drinking age. In a country where all our core democratic values, revolve around freedom, this law is not acceptable for 18 year olds adults.
