The African American children did not attend the same schools as the Whites. The African Americans couldn’t even be in the same room as a White person alone. The African Americans were not able to attend the same churches as the Whites. The African Americans were treated as slaves and animals and indigently. Only Blacks could marry
DBQ During the Jacksonian Era, reform movements attempted to expand democratic ideals in the United States in which the country prided itself upon. Among these reform movements were the Education reform, Abolitionist reform, and the Women’s movement. To begin with, education reform attempted to expand democratic ideals. Led by Horace Mann, many people sought for a smarter, more literate America. The youth did not have the chance to go to school unless they were wealthy and could afford it.
In the early 1800s the sudden onset of the Second Great Awakening influenced many reform movements, inspiring people to seek personal salvation and improve their lives as well as the lives of those they considered less fortunate. The Second Great Awakening launched a variety of reform movements across the country in an attempt to perfect the democratic society. Americans who participated in the Second Great Awakening considered America “youthful” and thought that they could perfect their surroundings and help those in need. The Awakening called on followers to prove their faith by helping those less fortunate than themselves by spreading their ideals. Two examples of the widespread influence of the Second Great Awakening are the creation of utopian societies and the temperance movement.
Throughout King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, King encourages the people to disobey the government because the government is not fulfilling the promises that they made. King proclaims that, “America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked ‘insufficient funds’” (King, 82). This outburst implies that the government is not being responsible about what they promised. King believes that people should not obey the government if they know the government is not doing the right thing. This relates back to the experiment, because the participants obeyed even though they knew it was not right to shock the learners, and King probably would have encouraged the participants to stop.
94. Romney v. United States fought against this ruling and eventually realized that they could not win this battle which lead to the renouncing of polygamy. While I agree that all beliefs are not right as in the book which states “Thugs of India imagined that their belief in the right of assassination was a religious belief; but their thinking so did not make it so.Yes it does not make it right because they believe in polygamy but it’s very hard to take away something someone belief started from, is based on and ask them to still believe in the same way as the founders who beliefs they are carrying out. In today’s time Mormons still exist and each year missionaries go out to countries to convince people to transform to their beliefs. In the end I believe we can’t take away the Mormons main beliefs from them and we shouldn’t punish them for doing it as long as they it in their own society.
Here you have to have some education and a good paying job and wear brand name clothes but there are some citizens who may look high class but they just dress well to make other people assume that they are. A lot of native people have to get time off their jobs do to traditional ceremonies and they end up putting it behind them because they need the money. Today education is important to getting a good paying job which puts a lot of pressure on the youth. Many are afraid that their culture and traditions will soon die out. The parents today tell their children to do well in school and bring that education back to help out their people.
I do not believe people would want a new constitution. Everybody loves their freedom in the United States; we just don’t like the politicians. We need new politicians to follow our current constitution. There is no way I would ever ask our politicians today to create a new constitution, nor do I think anyone else would. Although if maybe a few more years we get better politicians I would agree we need to have a more up to date constitution.
When African Americans were brought to this country as slaves, they didn’t have any formal education on English or even how to write it. They’re entire version of the English language, Black English, was all verbal. One important rule that Jordan's class made is that syntax and spelling do not
Bearing in mind that this is the 21st century, there is nothing as important as education. The educational requirements in any field of employment require that a person’s level of education be rather high. Therefore, it is important that all the people in my community access high levels of education so that they can be able to cope with the changing world and in turn, cause my community to experience sustainable development. I have observed that youths from minority groups largely drop out of school before graduation and this has led to low graduation rates in our school districts. The low graduation rate is not good for my community because it will lead to increase in the degree of unemployment and this may trigger the rate of crime.
As you can see, reform movements created a big impact on America. Reform Movements created our rights for how we live today. Whether the outcome was bad or good we still received justice. Reformers went through a great deal of trouble and tried their best to change for better. They helped many underprivileged people to gain there god given rights.
