The first show that they did was at a music festival called Texas Tornado Jam, which hosted local bands outside of Austin. The Fabulous Thunderbirds, which included Stevies brother Jimmie Vaughn, played after Stevies band. The event was broadcasted on T.V. Many people watched this event including Mick Jagger from The Rolling Stones, who was so impressed that he asked Stevie to play a private party that The Rolling Stones were hosting at the Danceteria club in New York. Jerry Wexler, who was a record executive from Atlantic Records, saw the band play at a record release party and asked them to play the Montreux International Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
