My job title is ‘Apprentice Childcare Assistant’. The purpose of my job is to provide a safe and caring environment for the children left in our care whilst maintaining a professional appearance. In my job I have many roles and responsibilities, these include: * Providing and maintaining close supervision of the children attending the nursery at all times, which includes meal times. * To help encourage the physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of each child. * To strictly follow the nursery discipline procedures.
The social care worker must do everything they can to keep the service users safe from harm, injury and abuse. This can be achieved by following and adhering to the following: * Work within the definition of your job role. * Keep accurate records and documentation as necessary. * Agreed ways of working of your employer which includes: - Policies and Procedures of your organisation, which are essential pieces of information that will enable the social care worker to work professionally and safely. .
TDA 2.8 Support children and young people’s health and safety Supporting children and young peoples’ health and safety is essential when working in an educational environment. * 1.1 Describe how current health and safety legislation, policies and procedures are implemented in your setting * * Legislation * * Legislation is set by the law and is followed by making rules, policies and procedures for anywhere that uses them, such as in a school setting. The law provides a number of different acts such as the health and safety at work act and the education act. These have to be followed by schools and help them keep their children safe. * * Health and safety at work act 1974 * * The health and safety at work act is implemented in my setting, this ensures that not only the pupils are safe but also the staff of the school know what they need to do in order to keep them safe from any dangers they could find in their setting.
Unit 002 1.1 - My current job role is as an 'Apprentice childcare worker'. My job purpose is to support the team leader and childcare staff to create a safe and stimulating childcare facility for children aged 0-12 years. To ensure appropriate activities are provided and support each child in reaching their full potential. Aim 5: Protecting children’s Security Implement child protection policies and procedures working in partnership with pupils, parents and agencies. All staff members are aware of, monitor, comply with and discuss issues of health and safety continuously whilst working. When guiding visitors or parents/carers through the school we must also make them aware of health and safety pointing out fire exits in case of fire. Staff must attend training and always follow policies and procedures to ensure good practice.
This act helps maintain healthy, safe and secure environments as it safeguards both the children and the adults working with them, this is done as the employers and employees have to ensure the workplace is safe and appropriate information such as training and supervision should be made available. In my setting, to follow this act, we ensure that all children in our building are safe and have a secure environment, to do this we have certain security arrangements in place, we have two mechanical doors which can only be opened from the inside of the building and which has an alarm system which sounds whenever the door opens. We also have a policy about getting information from the parents on who can and will collect the child, this is done before the child officially starts nursery, our nursery staff get pictures and names of people who will collect the child. All staff will know what their job role involves and what other members of staff job roles are, this will make it more safe and secure for the children. 2.2 Identify policies and procedures in the work setting for information sharing? Data protection act 1998 is the legislation that settings base there confidentiality on to make sure information is shared properly. Staff will have follow procedures to make sure the policies are carried out correctly e.g. if you suspected a child was being abused you would tell your manager/
Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 is a law that provides protection for the self and others in the workplace. It is the duty of every employer to make sure their employees are aware of Legislation by providing training and instruction. This is implemented in our school by carrying our regular risk assessments and ensuring that all staff are trained on all aspects of health and safety. The school must have up to date posters and that we ensure that there is an effective way of reporting hazards to the appropriate person. Policies ensure guidelines to protect pupils, staff, parents, visitors and contractors when on the school premises, this includes how risks can be controlled and who is responsible for this.
Assignment A0 In this assignment I will be documenting my knowledge and understanding in safety, security and legislation. Health and safety at work act 1974 – this act was put into place to aid the protection of employers, employees and others (i.e. patients) in the work place, by securing a safe, healthy environment and being aware of the welfare of people in the working environment. As an employer it is your duty to ensure where it is reasonably practical that certain regulations are adhered to such as providing up to date training, information and supervision for all employees. Insuring the working environment is safe and providing correct welfare facilities.
Unit 054 Principles for Implementing Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Setting Outcome 1 Understand how Duty of Care contributes to Safe Practice 1) To me Duty of Care means to offer a caring environment at all times to any young person in my care at any time. It is my responsibility to ensure that any young person in my care has a safe environment, a healthy diet, clean clothes, a clean living environment and ensure their personal hygiene is maintained. I would need to build a relationship with the young person to help keep them safe and follow all the above avenues. This will also enable me to provide opportunities of encouragement and support for them to reach their full potential. To offer and also guide them through emotional periods of their life.
