If we go and show bad attitude and show that we are negative to certain people around them. Then we could make children to be the same way, which is not a good example to them as young children don’t know the differences between right and wrong. As a teaching assistant it is my duty and responsibility to respect the children with there needs and accept them for who they are. The way I can do this is if I think about my own beliefs and opinions so I can learn not to judge others on the basis of their race, gender or religion etc. In my line
1.1) In my setting, establishing a respectable, professional relationship with the children is very important, as it will give you the attention and respect you require, when you require it. There are important skills you need to be able to build this relationship. Patience is a key skill needed when working with children. Some children can work at slower levels than other children, which may lead them to become frustrated with themselves or the situation. If the child is attempting to explain their work to you, then you must take your time in listening to them because if you begin to interrupt, then this may cause the child to become aggravated and frustrated.
3.2 explain the reason why children and young people development may not follow the expected pattern ? There are many reasons why development may not follow the normal pattern.it is important to know the pattern of the order the child is meant to develop in so you can support the child and the family. Development can be Influenced by many different factors ,including health, disability environment and family background. Some of the few things that can have a a influence on the development of children and young people. Health Chronic conditions such as asthma can cause children to have time off school, infections like meningitis causes development delay.
1.1 Different reasons why people communicate. When in early years setting, people communicate for a range of purposes, such as, to give/receive information or instructions, to discuss an issue, to express needs/opinions and to develop their own learning. When those, who provide care for children and young people, communicate, their practice becomes better adapted and communication is vital to work together as a team. According to K.Beith et al “as an early years practitioner, the way you communicate with adults will also affect the quality of care provided for the children” and it is important to communicate effectively to ensure that everyone has clear information and can understand your actions. (Beith.K et al,Pg.2, Level 2 certificate for the Children and young people’s workforce, 2010, Heinemann, Harlow) When I work with children I communicate with children and young people to build relationships, verbal or non-verbal communication may be used to help children and young people feel welcome and valued, and to co-ordinate activities.
We can’t protect children from all the things that may cause them distress throughout their lives. But we can help children become more resilient so that they are more able to cope with life’s uncertainties and problems. And all children, no matter what their background, will have to face problems and changes in their lives. So our support is really important in helping children become more resilient. 1.3 The good emotional health of children
Give positive encouragement, always using positive words rather than negative. This will in turn make them feel confident, valued and encourages good self esteem from an early age. Identify two ways that an adult's behaviour at work could negatively influence the development of children. 1) If you are feeling down and unwell, children and young people that you are working with are able to pick up on this and it could cause them to become unhappy and perhaps uncomfortable. This may then result in them not wanting to join in in activities or even find it as an excuse to play up.
For example a child may not want to be friends with someone in their class any more, they may not enjoy being in their company and want to play with other children instead. We can support the child in ending this friendship by helping them explore their thoughts and feelings, talking to them about why they feel they should end it, what would be the pros and cons of ending it and how they plan to do so. By talking it through with a child care worker the child will be supported and informed so as they can make the best possible choice for themselves. When talking to the child we can show them support by ensuring they know that no matter their reasons for wanting to end the relationship that they will not be judged and that you are there for them no matter which decision they choose to make. There may come a time when we ourselves as child care workers need support in helping the child to end a relationship.
Criteria 1 For practitioners it is important for them to identify a child’s care and learning needs in a child care setting it is very important for them to know this because it is important to promote development, because some children develop and learn slower than others and for practitioners it is important that they ensure all children’s needs are cared for despite their stage, age and development. For practitioners meeting a child’s care needs can be challenging because every child is different and unique, there are areas that practitioners need to take into consideration that meeting a child’s need could affect them as they will need to plan accordingly to the children’s age, stage of development and needs. Most people feel the need to express or needs and feelings. We also need to be there to help young children do the same, we can do this by listening and taking interest in their thoughts and emotions. It is essential for children to do this because without making their needs and feelings known to others they can become very frustrated and isolated which can lead to social difficulties later in life. Communication is also for sharing ideas and thoughts. This is important in children to build their creativity and language skills by learning how to get their ideas across to others.
While it is essential to undertake a personal self assessment to help get over any hurdles which may have been encountered in such situations, often overcoming these obstacles will require external advice and general guidance which will help you achieve the goals in your practice which you are aiming for. It is therefore highly beneficial for you and the pupils you are assisting that you try and set aside time with the teacher you are operating with to undertake any evaluation and discussion about your practice if they have noted anything in particular in a pupil's response which may have been reflected as negative and how to achieve action preventing
