Essay: Cyber-bullying The two first texts about cyber-bullying seem very alike. But the way the two texts have been written is very different. In text 1 the writer, Nina Lahkani, is very objective, she describes the subject cyber-bullying to the reader. Meanwhile she also includes facts and opinions from a lecturer and other persons, with a very high status in their profession. Nina mentions some coincidences of the very worst consequence of cyber-bullying. An example is a young girl, who committed suicide in 2009, because of instant bullying online. In text 2, the writer Aleks Krotski focuses a lot on his own opinions about cyber-bullying, and he refers to some things he has experienced. He starts by telling the reader a story from his childhood. He was anonymously browsing the web, while provoking other users. It was a very gentle way of cyber-bullying. He sees the cyber-bullying as a problem of course, but also as a problem that can be solved. Nina describes how this type of bullying is the hardest to stop and fight, because in the modern world the Internet is hard not to come by. Most teenagers in a European or western country owns a smartphone or a computer. This will automatically result in the victims not being able to escape, from the hate and the discomfort they are being put into. Also the bullies are hard to find, as they have this online mask or username, so they remain anonymous. Aleks writes that he thinks, the problem with cyber-bullying is the fact that you are anonymous. This digital mask, which the writer mentions, is the biggest problem. Aleks Krotoski, also has an experts view on the subject. Dr. Karen Douglas from the University of Kent. She also agrees that the problem with cyber-bullying is the anonymity.
